Black Flickering?

Doesn’t matter for me. Got flickering when its on or off.

That sucks, no help from the new nvidia driver.

Spoke too soon, flickering randomly occurs again. Disabling MSAA seems to be the only way to make it go away. That or old driver.

Change to DX11 also helps. If goes about WoW Classic the only way to prevent from flickering is to swap to CMAA or FXAA.

Welp…
Let’s hope next NVidia Driver fixes this issue  it’s becoming unbearable for me, where I can’t even see some transmog sets due to intense flickering.
Now I’m probably just gonna go back to the 442 drivers and wait…again.

Ill ask, did the new patch change anything?

No, both Retail and Classic still flickering.

we any idea when new drivers are dropping?

Could you delete the drivers and roll back to a previous one?

442.59 is flicker free here but it’s not super helpful to tell people to use old drivers.

Just curious, Is this Nvidia or Blizzards fault? or both? Like who are all these people waiting for a fix from? I think this issue should be escalated for them, I think they have waited a bit long to be able to play the game properly? I wouldn’t be happy if it was me. Actually makes me nervous that a random patch will do the same to me the way things are going.

If it’s Nvidia fault and they’ve left people hanging for this long… Maybe I’ll seriously think about going AMD next time.

Well I usually give new updates some time before downloading to check id theres issues with it , and if I do get issues (rarely) I usually rollback which fixes it before trying anything else, thats just my experience

Hi

im getting texture flickering on the character selection screen and also in game. More so when looking at the map get like these black boxes appearing. My hardware is completely fine have looked through the forums and a few people have this issue but unsure if its linked to direct x12?

does anyone have a solution to this?

Known fixes are reverting back to 442 NVidia Drivers, or turning off Anti Aliasing, or switching from DX12 to DX11
Nvidia doesn’t seem to be fixing this issue at all, but problem is, it’s only happening in WoW for so many of us.

many thanks for the heads up reverted drivers and its fixed the issue so many thanks for that. Slightly worrying when people have been reporting it for months and no stable driver yet. Fingers crossed because of more people getting the issue they may implement a fix.

This is so devastating to play with. I can’t believe Blizzard haven’t fixed this yet. I’ve been playing with it for months… I’ll give it to the Launch of Shadowlands and if no fix is implemented I will probably quit my favourite game :frowning:

Because the black flickering have reached a point it is almost unbearable to play with.

Yep same here…it’s present for months…

This is indeed very frustrating. I’m rarely login to WoW right now becouse of that and I would realy like to know is there going to be a fix for that?

There’s reports on the Nvidia Support forum of people playing other games such as Civilization VI having the same flickering while playing the game and these reports are from the past few months .

So it’s definitely not just World of Warcraft experiencing this, better to turn your heads towards Nvidia instead of Blizzard.

Try to check the Nvidia Control Panel settings to see if V-Sync/Vertical Sync is set to Forced on and turn it off.

If that doesn’t help try turning off Antialiasing + V-sync in game if that changes anything.

EDIT:
Other options you can try:

  • Turn off G-Sync/Freesync
  • Turn off HDR
  • Install older drivers

ADVANCED:
Import the .nip profile with Nvidia Profile Inspector

Why Blizzard simply not contact with Nvidia and tell them that their drivers broke up something if you are right? We deal with that from months and now we have to think who’s done that and where to find solution? This is something we pay for and it’s enough that we inform about it. This is getting very annoying.
