Black Flickering?

Try the fix documented here. If it works, perhaps a community manager can pass this up the chain for Nvidia to look into.

Oh looks like someone linked it above already. You will have to track down Nvidia Profile Inspector to use this fix.

Can someone confirm if the above fix works? I need to update my drivers >.>

Not going to be a lab rat. I’m waiting for some official info from Blizzard and fix.

That’s fair enough.

Some clarification from Blizz wouldn’t go a miss…

I was having the same flickering when I was looking up in the sky in Revendreth on beta hopefully just a bug but who knows…

Nvidia knows, its on their forums for months , seems they cant fix it or they dont care at this point . Also the reason the flickering happens at least for me is when i alt and tab to much .

So can I update my drivers yet?

Doesn’t look like it.

Has the new Windows update helped at all?

No and wonder how long this is going to be ignored.

I truly wish we could say otherwise, but as of right now there are no news on this. By now it does appear to be fairly clear that the problem is truly driver-based, given it disappears by using older drivers or disabling display-features that are heavily driver-reliant (and since it also exists in games other than WoW), but unfortunately that doesn’t make the situation any better for those who are affected.

We’ve not forgotten about this tho, and it’ll remain on our agenda until a true solution exists.

Thank you so much for keeping us posted!
I truly hope this gets resolved eventually. :c
Hopefully NVidia does something on their end.

New driver, how’s the flickering?

Also interested to see if anything has changed, they updated in ready for the pre-patch.

Problem is Nvidia don’t seem to be listing this as either a known or a resolved issue in WoW, so it’s virtually impossible to tell if the new driver fixes the problem from reading the release notes. I’m not sure if this is because Nvidia simply aren’t acknlowledging that the issue exists, which is bad if that’s the case cause there’s little or no chance of getting a fixed driver. Blizzard appear to have taken the stance that the problem is with Nvidia, but I’m strugging to find evidence that Nvidia actually acknowledge this.

The problem itself doesn’t always manifest straight away. Previously I’ve installed a new Nvidia driver and played for several days without issue, only for the flickering to then appear. One thing I did find is that once the flickering starts it gradually gets worse so elapsed playing time could be a factor, although I can’t explain why that would be the case.

I’ll try installing the new driver now and will let you know if everything is still ok towards the end of the week.

I am getting a bit fed up with constantly having to rollback these drivers though…

Don’t know about the flickering, but the MSAA is still bugged and glitchy.
It does not really work as intended on the transparent textures and also produces some weird “movement” of the textures even though they should be perfectly still.

It’s really sad that they still haven’t fixed this.
I’m beginning to think that it is also on Blizzard’s side to fix it, maybe it is not only the driver after all.
Question is, does it work as intended with old drivers? Like months old?

The same problem persists on the shadowlands beta too btw.

New driver not fixed it. Got flickering straight away when I swiched to DX12 in BFA. WoW Classic also flickering when I change to MSAA x8. I’m realy sick of that. So many months and this was not resolved. I think Blizzard or Nvidia simply ignore that. Outrageous.

On the side note, read that below what I found. They made driver ready for Ray Traced Shadows but gives a damn nothing to fix what we facing for months.

Our newest GeForce Game Ready driver brings you support for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, A Total War Saga: TROY, and the upcoming World of Warcraft Shadowlands Beta. And support for 8 new G-SYNC Compatible gaming monitors.

Game Ready For The Latest Releases

Game Ready Drivers bring you support for the latest games, giving you an optimized experience with the smoothest and most responsive gameplay possible. Included in our latest release is support for:

World of Warcraft Shadowlands Beta : Blizzard’s readying a test of their newest World of Warcraft expansion. And if you’re accepted be sure to download and install our latest Game Ready Driver to experience the introduction of ray-traced visual effects to the world’s most successful MMORPG.

Lol, this sounds about right… Anyone with BETA does the game flicker for you?
Are we going to have to wait till shadowlands to have no flicker?

Wonder how we going to have an oportunity to check and play with that marvelous Ray traced Shadows if Shadowlands are going to still flicker. You need DX12 for that, but we forced to use DX11 becouse of the flickering.
