Black Flickering?

Try the latest driver release from yesterday.

You too

Had quite peaceful gameplay today without flickering, after installing the latest driver.
I’m afraid to turn optimistic on this one…let’s hope it’s fixed :grimacing:

flickering seems to be gone with the latest driver update

It seems to be gone aye.
However…
I fear it could return with any other update. I’m so on pins and needles every time a new Driver comes out now, aaa D:

lmao same bro

I still got the interface flickering and Im on the latest Nvidia driver with my RTX 2080

If had these issues come and go rolling back a driver is not a viable solution it feels like ambient occlusion is applying to interface elements including map etc or something wrong with shadows its been issue since bfa launch why they never should’ve removed fullscreen exclusive this is the main issue here, as a gsync panel user i am forced to use dx12 not mention dx12 gives far better performance anyway

If seen it come and go its potentially driver issue, but only Blizzard can fix it permanently with dx12 they are responsible for any optimisation done not nvidia or amd

I know i got a profile from Sora on nvidia forum before it bassicly disabled any driver optimisations and problems went away i believe

I noticed if you have Triple buffering disabled it can flicker occasionally

Exactly the same case: 460.79 driver + GTX1060

I have change the DX 12 to DX11 and the problem is over.

Being Orbios is almost unbearable with all the flickering of the lights.

Same issue here, started after 460.79 driver update.
DX12 + GTX 1050 Ti

same problem, expecially in the maw and ardenweeld. i got a rtx 3090 dx 12 and the 460.79 driver

I managed to solve the problem from my end.

Open your “Nvidia Experience” and click on the “Home” button located at top left corner. Then mouse over to World of Warcraft and select “Details”. This will open a new window where you will have an option to Optimize your World of Warcraft settings. Exit WoW - select optimize - log back to WoW and this should solve the flickering on objects.

The flickering is coming from the “Shadow Quality”. If the above method didn’t fix your flickering, try to reduce the shadow quality to “Low”. This will decrease the flickering a lot.

GL&HF! :pray:t2:

The 460.89 driver partially solved this, but it still comes up from time to time and seemingly there is no rhyme or reason to when it will start bugging out. I think Aethan’s mentioned fix only works because Geforce Experience turns Ray Tracing on and this solves the issue. The problem with the ray tracing is the 40% performance penalty while providing little to no visual upgrade for that FPS sacrifice. If the flickering bothers me currently I just set the ray tracing to “Fair”, this option has the lowest (20%) performance penalty, but still fixes the shadow bug.
A more permanent fix from blizzard/nvidia would still be appreciated.

A few days ago i had a Gigabyte 1070 with the latest drivers and had the exact same problem as Virion does. Tried all options and some seemed to solve the problem but after an area change they reapeared. Only dx11 solved it completly. Today i bought the Powercolor 6800xt Red Devil and tried it with the latest drivers installed. Atm i can say that raytracing wont solve the problem. At least not on the last two options. Shadows start flickering while flying over all areas and on the last option few certain places have strange flickering issues too. Its like a gray or shadowy box is placed over those areas and parts of that box flicker too. Have this in ardenwald on the worldboss and at the location of one of those worldquests in the north where you help that slim tree dude and he makes wow look grayish. On the lowest raytracingsetting ive had no issues so far but it looks like many shadows disapear entirley so this option seems kind of useless since normal shadows look even better. PS.: Overall i like the raytracing shadows since they kind of change the atmosphere but the performance cost is definetly too high. I still get over 60fps in very crowded areas with many players and over 100 in normal / empty places but like in every game raytracing seems still too costly performance wise. I will try some other tweaks in hope of a fix but so far ive got nothing except dx11.

Right now to get rid of flickering is to switch to DX11 or if you don’t want to lose on the performance install 457.51.

460.79 and 460.89 are broken so I suggest not to install them. Just stay with 457.51 untill it’s going to be fixed.

Thought my GPU was broken, but I found an easy fix.

For me it was going into Options > System > Advanced: Change your graphics card from “Auto detect” to your GPU.

Worked for me. Let me know if that helps.
