Hello Ashbrooke!
Can you try adding the following line at the end of your config.wtf
file, save it and try running the game again?
SET GxCompatOptionalGpuFeatures “0”
You can find the config.wtf
file inside the World of Warcraft/_retail_/WTF/
folder.
I have the file retail-WTF but it is empty
I see, let’s try forcing this option with a different methodology that should not require editing any file. Can you please try the following steps?
- On the Battle.net app, click the gear icon near the “Play” button
- Click on Game Settings
- Activate the checkbox for “Additional command line arguments”
- Enter
-compat
in the command line argument field - Click done
At this point please try the game again
Felranys, There’s a reason I could never do your role. Worked and thank you so much for your patience.
Happy to have been of help! Have fun and enjoy the new patch!
I never post on the forums but just wanted to add my thanks for this fix. First I had the black screen login screen when launching Wow today. Tried all the other ways to fix Wow including a full re-install. Then the whole client was glitching and flickering in full-screen. Adding the -compat line as posted above worked straight away. I was about ready to give up! Thanks so much, and thanks to Rommax on the US forum where I first saw this posted. It’s great to be back!
i have the same problem and cant through using blizzard technical
