Aha, I should have read the article rather than a tweet it seems.
Thanks for the clarification Puny!
They have though, sub for 3 months, then cancel the sub asap.
No, its not.
Marketing and advertising is always speaking towards a type of emotion or has to trigger you.
And as with anything, how you are affected is based on the person itself.
You cant tell businesses to stop deploying marketing techniques because it might cause some issues for people.
If they cant advertise, they cant make money.
And if a business cant make money they cant do business.
I am still not seeing your point or understand it.
You want to protect a minority of people by telling businesses they cant deploy marketing for their own growth.
A supermarket advertising buy 2, pay for 1 is just as bad.
And the list goes on.
And they still have.
And nothing will change. (Until they decide subsriptions are paid for, for either 89 days, 112 days or 4003 days at a time recurring)
You just cant spend 12,99 euros on 30 days of gametime.
Gametime doesnt equal subscription.
There is a difference.
Yes, I know now. Someone has corrected me already.
Just because laws didnt catch up yet to predatory microtransactions, does not mean its all fine and good. More regulations started for lootboxes, but not enough yet. Discrimination and predatory microtransactions both can affect peoples wellbeing just as much, even if one is more direct attack, while other is way more sneaky and more socially acceptable by people like you who have no problem with it. But i can see you dont quite understand this and you probably never will.
You are quite naive then. You should inform yourself more about what tactics game companies use to attract and squeeze out “whales”. Customers arent even called as people, but literally “whales”, or “consumers”.
I play by paying game time, and i went to my subscription managing section only to find out you can’t pause and block the timer so you don’t lose the played time, this is really predatory.
Technically well over 90% have quit the game. The figures pushed out in 2014 were that over 100 million accounts had been created yet by that time less than 10 million were active. Now we’re probably closer to 125/150 million accounts created and much less than 10 million active subs.
As for the change in question I wonder how many who are complaining about this change actually bought 30 days gametime at a time and how many are just hopping on the Bliiz Bad bandwagon as is usual in these cases.
This has always been the case so I am not sure why it’s news to you
And you fail to understand that you can’t protect people “from themselves” completely. Laws and rules are nice etc. But the human will always be flawed and make “mistakes”. No way to protect it against. You can only educate them and inform them about it. “Going full. Control. Ban. Limit” mode and we will be left with water and bread pretty much. Everything else the “government decided is bad for you”. Who doesn’t like a sweet here or there? Sorry they are banned to protect some people who are “vulnerable” and overeat, become obese and get sick. A lot of Fridays are better with a beer with friends. Nop. Banned. There are alcoholics out there. Ok. Can I get a nice car as well? Nop. Banned. Some people drive like madman and can cause some serious accidents with casualties. Need to protect you from it.
See where am I going?
You can’t pause or stop payed time, which is the payment method this change targets, there’s no defense of Blizzard in this.
Can you explain this? Why are they making a difference between these two?
Source please?
It’s news for me because pausing game time was never a problem since i could always pay just one month and have fun at it, now anyone who wanna give a try or have a look of how the game is at a patch or expansion release for example will have no option but pay twice the value to get access to the game and likely not make use of half of the time.
Guess this might finally makes me quit
Show me a subscription model that allows a pause?
and you still can, you can sub for 3 months, then cancel asap and you only have paid for the month!
You can “pause” (stop) a subscription in WoW…
Once again you are going to extremes, where everything is banned. Selling games and advertising them is fine. Putting predatory microtransactions that prey on vulnerable people specifically is not fine.
Lets use your example. You want to have a beer or two, go ahead, its fine. You want to have 50 beers so you are drunk and causing havoc? Maybe thats not so great and should be prevented. There is a difference if you buy 1 kilo of sweets, or if you feel pressured to get 100 kilos. What person would need this many and wouldnt be happy with just 1 kilo.
I dont want laws to completely control everything, but there should be a limit to certain things.
Except most people that do this always pay through game time because it’s pointless to sign a subscription when you’re going to play for a month or less.
Sorry.
You still can by buying a 30 day subscription and then immediately cancelling the reoccurrence on said subscription. Or alternatively you can buy a single 60 day game time package and then stop after 60 days instead of 30.
