As far as it comes to my knowledge this week on Mograine EU around 8 or 9 Eyes dropped, and that’s for the Alliance side. I happen to hold one of those.
On horde side however, ingots skyrocketed to 1.2k gold a piece. Some serious thirst for ingots.
Now it doesn’t take a mathematical genius to understand that the odds of that to happen could be leading players to think that it’s abnormal.

While you might be correct this is the nature of random events.
This week I had farmed like 150-200 thorium ores and zero arcane crystal drops. On the other hard the next day I get 2x crystals in one vein and one blue sapphire. Yesterday I got again 2x crystals in a vein.
It is just the nature of how chance works which may lead to some extreme situations.
