World of Warcraft Classic has, since its August release, drove the largest quarterly increase in World of Warcraft subscriptions in the franchise’s 15 year lifetime.
I’m not saying I’m psychic or a prophet of any sort, but I knew this would have been the case even back when Classic was announced. I was telling people “Classic is going to be so successful, just wait” but they were like “Nah it’ll die within a month” and on top of that, the divide was quite rough. Even people who I’ve been friends with on WoW for years were arguing with me against the concept of Classic.
Remember this mantra? "They’re wearing rose-tinted glasses, it’s all nostalgia, they’ll see how bad it is and rush back to retail"
The only rose-tinted glasses I’ll be wearing is rose-coloured engineering goggles in Classic, luv. SIT DOWN, zealots!
Oh and another thing I’ve noticed on this forum is that most are only here to whine and cry about something, so they won’t even look at this topic or care because it’s not a topic about how “Classic will die in Phase 2 with the server lag” or some other new “LAYERING IS KILLING THE GAME”-type topic.
Classic is a huge success but the lag is still a valid issue (from what I have seen and others complaints… haven’t experienced large scale pvp myself, yet)
Reach 60k what, subscribers on YouTube? oh you mean lvl 60? ah, says the lvl 10. You don’t know my main “Queueguy”
Also, the lag is a problem on big/full PvP servers that all you spergs flocked to, OBVIOUSLY, but are you going to fix it by basically posting “FIX THE SERVERS”?
I’m not saying it isn’t a valid issue. I’m saying that these spergs are only here to complain, they don’t care about the success of Classic or the positives.
Are you going to respond to any of my points without your 3Head replies? “u not lvl 60 m8 wers ur main” Your character is called Queueguy and you’re playing a female Gnome with pink hair.
Posting on a lvl 10 just to complain about server lag
Im complaining about abilities taking over a minute to register server side. For a whole 60 seconds +, everything just freezes. Its not just lag, its unaceptable amounts of lag
Well yeah you’re rightfully annoyed/frustrated because that sounds broken as hell, but my point is that you/others are only on these forums to complain/vent your frustrations, so… topics like this (positive topics) are pretty pointless… in essence, and it’s kinda sad, but there it is.
I have re subbed for WoW the night Classic released and still play it every day. I still don’t have Retail client even installed on my PC. Was thinking about buying BfA with Christmas discounts to try out during Holidays (it would not give content for more that a month anyway - that’s my personal experience from Legion expansion - bought it, tried for a month and unsubscribed). But now with the announcement of the Shadowlands I think I might skip BfA at all as all the information about it I could gather does not inspire me. I hope that experience with success of Classic would inspire developers of Shadowlands to make some changes in retail that would encourage those who like real WoW to come, try it and stay for longer than one month… Yea - that’s true - retail versions of WoW are for one month. I am not a fan of MOBA stile they turned dungeons into within retail so their “end game” is of no interest to me.
Classic lasted for me longer already and I think I’ll stick with it at least for other two months or so and depending on what happen during those two months it might extend to way more - played all the way through Vanilla, BC and part of WotLK back when they were new without big brakes and enjoyed them.
Therefore at least in my case: No, Classic is not for one month and leave. Newer the less Retail “expansions” are indeed “for one month and fed up”. So may be Activision (that is disguising itself as Blizzard) should reconsider where they should really invest. I am not from Classic+ crowd but still if Classic is that much of a success, may be it’s time to understand, that further expansions should get rid of stuff that made Retail different from Vanilla, study out, what exactly players like in Classic so much and re-implement those things into retail expansions - may be then their prognoses would become really true and Classic players would leave Classic for Retail - otherwise they won’t be happy when players will finally leave Classic - yea, that will eventually happen. But where they’ll go then depends on decisions within Activision and if they want profit, they need to think fast.
I have the same experience. I came back to try Legion just before BFA launched, and I quit the game within two weeks, well before I got to level 110.
The same for Warlords of Draenor… I came back to the game to try it, but got bored very quickly. To be fair I did spend a little longer in that game, but I think I had quit by the third subscription payment. I was sitting in my garrison doing sweet FA all day and compulsively logging in to get those follower missions ticked off and sent out. But no real gameplay of any value.
Classic on the other hand, we’re now three months in(!) and I’m only half way through to max level, and I enjoy every session. I can comfortably just log in for an hour, and just spend time doing one quest, or one dungeon, and it is very satisfying.
Last night, I only had a bit of time, about an hour, and I did the troll skull tusks quest in Stranglethorn. I found a couple of people, we died a ton, fought off lots of Horde. It was frustrating but also rewarding when we finished. That’s just one quest but its a microcosm of the gameplay experience - by the end, I’d made a couple of new friends, and had a very active, engaging challenge. Whereas in Warlords, my experience was just sitting on my own, in my fort, clicking on items and menus.
I have no intention to return to retail again, although now that I have a subscription, I might spend a bit of time just to check out what has changed.
I also agree that I hope Blizzard uses the success of Classic to improve the future game in future expansions. Blizz clearly was not expecting this to be such a hit. It would be nice to one day return to an enjoyable version of modern WoW. But who knows.
So from your own experience the game is doing fine and you are just jumping the bandwagon because complaining is a hobby?
And that is where most of the alledged lag is. Funny thing is that World of Warcraft is NOT a large scale PvP game. Thats what the pirate server people want you to believe because that is what they turned their pirate servers into. (and are trying to do the same with the PvP servers right here by overpopulating them)
My experience has been solid. Just because I have not experienced an issue affecting someone else, doesn’t mean their issue does not exist. Don’t be so absurd.
I’m not jumping on any bandwagon, I just said that someone making a complaint about their user experience is valid and they should be heard.
