Surprisingly enough ABK releasing a game with gacha features makes the whole post a little more believable to me, free money.
Problem about delaying such franchises is that the hype goes down. Once people forget the hype about warcraft its very difficult to get them back. It happened with movies and other games.
Spending 2 years till the next expansion or whatever wont bring people back. It will have to be REALLY DAMN GOOD to make it work at that point.

Err if WoW Team is hiring 20 more people right now why would it go permanent maintenance mode next year? Hiring now to abandon greatest cash cow so soon does not make any sense.
