Blizzard just killed tinderbox farming

It was so easy, you could run nightfall sanctum on repeat and get reliable tinderbox drops, as any role and in any difficulty, then they decide “oh no you have to run 6-8 Tier to actually get a decent chance of looting them” (so good luck doing that all you who was using lower geared alts to farm it) and TODAY they decide “oh let’s just make it completely random, so now you get the trash material for 20g a piece that nobody wants OOOOR you can get lucky and get the 10k a pop material that EVERYONE needs”.

This change is so moronic it’s insane, the access of a reliable tinderbox farm was what was keeping the price of it DOWN, now all you’re going to see is the price spiking and bringing with it the price of all materials and crafts that utilize it.

Good job blizzard you just made the item 1. Less farmable for profit and 2. A lot more expensive and inaccessible for everyone who needs it, in one fell swoop.

F blizz.

Blizzard really hates targeted farming.

Yeah, while the people who do the farming love it, and everyone needing said material but hates farming loves it via proxy of getting decent price and availability of said items. But naaah here we go, “titanforging wohoooo RNG f yeaaaaah f them players” it’s what i imagine the morning briefings at their offices sounds like.

They really do, which is a shame.

I think targeted farming is fine, but it can’t be too targeted. There’s a happy middle ground where you get a drop from loot table of a handful of items that are relevant to you.

But they tend to go too far, and this is such a case. These tinderbox are outrageously expensive, we didn’t really need them to make it worse.

On an unrelated note, I got my BiS trinket from vault today. Yay me.

I’ve been getting them from looted caches in each zone, best I had was 7 in half an hour.

And normally you do cache farming for hours on end and not see a single one, i’ve even seen people talking about doing cache farming during the weeks since launch and not seeing one.

Hence why the DELVE changes is so infuriating, doesn’t matter if i can luck out and pick up 20 minutes worth of delving tinderboxes over the course of hours and hours and hours of grinding out something else that’s completely tied to RNG.

We had something great, blizzard ruined it, don’t really want to bother with a way worse substitute , i’d rather want blizz to undo the thing they ruined or atleast explain why they feel the need to ruin things for the sake of RNG when every single time they’ve done it before players have gone “why more rng blizz what the eff?”

Can’t say I went out of my way to farm them, was dual gathering on an alt and only went after them whenever Rarescanner chimed in when one’s up in my proximity with an arrow leading the way.

You getting 7 tinderboxes from other sources doesn’t refute or add to the discussion in any way, as i have done the same thing as you and not seen a single one, while i could reliably pick up 10-12 tinderboxes an hour through delving. The problem has nothing to do with tinderboxes sometimes popping up from other places.

Also the 7 in 30mins from caches is bull, didn’t want to call you out but that hasn’t been shown happening to anyone since release and would be talked about everywhere if it was the case.

The First Descendant does pretty good targeted farming. Though I do really wish the RNG on it wouldn’t be so… RNG.

Like I can be farming for a 38% dropchance item but get a 3% chance I don’t really need twice in a row, or try and get something with 15% chance and get it after a hundred tries.

Oh well, it keeps you playing I suppose :stuck_out_tongue:

The funny thing is, RNG changes like this stops me from bothering doing the content at all, i won’t be running a single delve any more since my chars have outgrown them gear wise already, but i kept running them both solo and inviting people to come along just because i could earn something decent while doing it. Not anymore tho lol

I dislike the entire crafting farm in general. it’s so unbalanced and gated it’s not even fun to craft any longer
Any item of significance, which is required to make armour or weapons for me is so hard to obtain that by the time you have enough of said item it’s pointless crafting the item you were going to create, unless you need it for a mog or another character

Tinderboxes has been steadily between 8-9k for over two weeks now, only dipping/spiking when blizzard has been messing around with hotfixes for delve drops affecting availibility. Not really talking about or bothering with the crafting system in general atm, hence my thread being about the nerf to the delve farming that was released today. Removing the ability to target farm something and replacing it with wild RNG has never really driven up availibility before so it’s not gonna get better anytime soon before blizz nerfs something else, it’s all they know how to do.

Nah, Blizz did the right call. This way everyone gets a chance to loot it, and not only gold farmers, who farm one specific delve over and over

Everyone had a chance to loot it already lmao what are you talking about??

They specifically hampered the ones willing to farm it. Which anyone could do on any character and skill level, but you think it’s good they removed that ability so now nobody can?

Peak toxic cooked take.

You mean you watched a YT do it for gold farming… it blew up and blizzard fix it… Stealthing around and letting Brann “farm” it was sure what Blizzard designed.

That’s not even what was hotfixed and nerfed lmfao, go read the notes before piping up with something you know nothing about lol

To be fair that sounds like it was never the intended purpose of it
Hopefully now that this is fixed they will recognize why people were farming for it and up the droprates across the board.

You need one for 2 sanctified alloys and every week there’s like 2 patron orders as blacksmith that have 0/10 or 0/6 or 0/12 sanctified alloys not filled. The droprate is too low to even commit to patron orders atm even before this nerf

They probably didn’t design and intend the raid or m+ to be for selling boosts and earning golds through, but they allow and endorse that anyway, so i don’t buy the “intention” part, they are fiddling with stuff constantly just to justify their salaries it seems more than any intentionality.

Especially considering the materials are zone themed and dropped for their associated themed delves by design, to the contrary it seemed very intentional.

12 alloys needing 6 tinderboxes? Easy that was 30 minutes of delving previously, now you might have to delve for hours on end before you end up seeing 1 tinderbox.

Probably not at first no but as you said they also probably noticed what it did to token sales and figured yeah you know what this isn’t really a problem for us

Still, if this was the only reliant way to get them even with that in mind too few of them were dropping to provide people with reliant skill ups and mettle through the patron orders they’ll likely notice and adjust.

Atleast if it doesn’t lead to another spike in gold selling…
It’ll be interesting to see what it does with the price of all things that need it, thought sanctified alloy t3 was expensive already? oh man

They dropped at a rate of 10-12 an hour for anyone willing to run the delve, that’s not a problem of low rates at all, especially considering you could do it as any role and ilvl. The problem then is more that the people needing them refused to farm them, and that’s not gonna improve their situation now as there is no way at all to target farm them.
