Its not what i meant. Sorry dude, but i want blizzard to create new realms for retail hardcore. If you die, rip.

Don’t think hardcore would work for retail at all with all the random scaling and 1 shots that just happen.

Why? Its short and relatively easy

It was the same for classic. This will force blizz to be better at scaling. Lets at least give it a try… gogo blizzard

Classic didn’t have “Oh you dinged, that mob you killed 10 seconds ago will now hit you 70% harder and have 30% more HP for no reason”

Endgame in classic is also magnitudes easier than endgame in retail.

It will work fine, new things take time to adapt to. I dont care about some bugs, but i would love to have the option to play hardcore on new realms in retail.

Just seems like a lot of work for something that’d barely work, Blizzard can’t even do portals currently these days and you want a hardcore realm that’d just lead to pointless and stupid deaths out of your control.

Yes i want hc realms in retail. Just because they cant make portals doesnt mean they cant make hc retail.

And you cant predict the future, maybe it will end up being good or a nice addition for retail players.

How would you fix the scaling issues that Heist said?
how would you work with chromie time?
How would 4 types of raid work?
How would 4 types of dungeons work?

You have not given any of this a logical thought.

imo hardcore mode does not belong in an mmorpg

i like to watch hardcore deaths on youtube tho, some are hilarious
but this wont work for retail

retail has changed alot its fast paced and small mistakes causes deaths
and deaths and fails are often and are acceptable,

what would you do on hc retail ? playing as a carebear avoiding every content ?
cause 1 fast mistake end you are donzo ?

Make hc an option, that wont hurt anyone? You can still stay in softcore. Hc realms should be hc only, i would enjoy the game from another angle. If im getting tired of hc , i guess i could go play sc.

Retail Harcore realms will end up like the old PvP realms. Dead and full of complaints of how hard it is and to please make it easier. Forums will be flooded.

I also don’t see why they don’t just add an NPC in the major capitals. You talk to him and he will scale the world up for you if you want from HC, Mythic right up to extreme where you literally have to do most things in a group or die. Good way to dump those excess currencies like Valorstones.

Rewards from these stages also need to scale but are unusable in regular game play.

The Reason why Hardcore works in Classic is very simple.

  1. Leveling takes ages, compared to Retail
  2. Mobs actually are a threat, in Retail you can run around Hoggers Area as a Druid Moonfire spam the entire Area without ever taking damage
  3. Resources matter, you actually run out of Mana, Rage, Energy, Focus(which doesn’t exist in classic, but you get my point) and what not, which again, makes the whole game Harder
  4. The entire way how you traverse the Map, there is no Mounts at level 10, which once again makes Leveling much harder because you can’t just out run Roaming Mobs with your mount, imagine a son of Arugal aggros you on a mount, not much of a risk to not die to him then, right?

So all in all, if you want HC Retail just do it i guess, see how long it will last, i would suspect not more then a day at best till you hit max level.

I agree with you, HC retail is not even interesting. You can lvl up within 10-12 hours from 1 to 80. Like where is the fun in that? After that you can just go on a calculated gear grind.

The interesting thing about HC Classic is that it takes you ages to lvl up to lvl 60 and have to be thoughtful with which mobs you fight. In retail you can barely die and the world doesn’t feel like a treat at all.

sure people would love to make their main character each day after dying in hardcore retail . :woman_shrugging:

its called wastage of resources which could be spent on other things in game for betterment

Retail HC = Pointless for numerous reasons, but primarily the following 2:

  1. much lhigher leveling speed.
  2. Mobs < 60 couldn´t hurt you even if they tried.

If you die on retail while leveling, in 90% of the cases you´re either a completely new player getting acclimated to the controls, or you´re a muppet playing on an misconfigured and unplugged steering wheel…

There´s, with all due respect, nothing even remotely “hardcore” about roflstromping entire zones of training dummies in one pull with gear from 3 expansions ago

That said, if you want the challenge, just do it yourself like people have been doping for >20 years at this point … Classic hardcore didn´t appear because someone at blizzard suddenly woke up, read the forums, and thought “oh , what a great idea”… it appeared very specifically because thousands of players were already doing it of thier own volition and it became popular enough to warrant official realms to combat non-hc players griefing them.

Not to mention the absolute mockery it becomes when the Meta way to level becomes mining and herbing because they don´t hit back and give as much xp as 2-3 mobs or half a quest

I get that you want to have this mode in retail but truth is World of Warcraft isn’t designed to be a game where you lose all your progress because you died. MMORPG’s aren’t action RPG’s with multiple portals and instant teleports into main hubs. It isn’t in the design.

In the other hand ARPG’s are designed in mind to provide this experience.

The best way for you to do it is to set your own unofficial rules, just like the way the unofficial Classic HC rules were implemented it before Blizz ruined it. Like others have said though, it won’t work on retail for reasons already mentioned.
