according to google currently, totalling all characters (per server), the gold cap is 1 billion per account.
there is really no need for players to have 1 billion gold. players dont even need 10s to 100s of millions of gold.
they should reduce it to something like 3 million per character and 5 million in guild bank. it sounds more than enough to me.
yea, just take away hundreds of millions from players and drop it in stormwind and orgrimmar via planes flying by.

i know it sounds like it. maybe there is some truth to that. but the fact still remains. too much gold in the world is bad for the economy. its obvious even blizzard dont want it, they make gold sinks every expansion, gold sinks that only gets higher. they also trying now to stop multiboxing.
If it is in the bank then it is not in the economy. It really does not matter i have 10 million or 3 million on my char(s), or 100k.

I agree the gold people are making at that point is useless. It echoes real world income and how the richest people have more money than they could ever need while the poorest can’t afford food and shelter.
If people stopped obsessing over making all the money in the world (hint “AAA” companies) they might actually be able to make things better for everyone else involved, including in the game, as if scalpers in the AH stopped trying to milk people for all they are worth and getting rid of all cheap things to sell on more expensive, we might actually have a nicer time for everyone who needs the items.

Gold cap should only be a technical restriction (maybe database number sizes, etc.) and not something tied to game design. However, Blizz NEEDS to introduce more actual gold sinks that serve to take gold out of the game. Repairing isn’t good enough.
These gold sinks hit the players with the least gold the hardest.

“There’s too much gold” is not an argument and you haven’t demonstrated how it’s bad for the economy…
you still ignore the practicality in that.
too much gold is bad for the economy. in order to compete, people need to waste ridiculous amount of irl money on tokens.
you got people who basically control the market, because they have the funds to do it. it hurts the majority of the players.
but what do they do with the rest of the millions of gold they got ? its just sitting there.
Yea, not everyone is rich irl either. The more effort you put into the game, the more gold u make. U want the impossible to happen, Blizzard won’t thanos snap 100s of millions of gold.
