After 2 weeks of constant 24/7 hour ingame harassment, I made a forum post about it in the support section, and got just the answer I was expecting. To stop the ingame harassment, we have to use the ingame report function, right clicking a players name and chosing to report them. But as we have seen before, this is an automated system that needs X amount of reports before something happens.
I have made numerous tickets about this harassment, I play on Argent Dawn and am trying to roleplay, but another player is constantly on top of me, dancing and using toys to disrupt my roleplay.
I am not interested in content, I want to RP, and it’s rendered impossible due to this one other player that keeps logging various lvl 20 pandaren characters, follows me around in EVERY ZONE I go to just to harass me.
What other options is there to get help, other than just going to play another game instead?
Is there a system in place to deal with things like this or does the police need to get involved?
I wonder if this post will get closed just like my last one did.
If a player is found to be targeting Role Players with the specific intent to harass, he/she may:
Be temporarily suspended from the game
Isn’t this specifically for RP realms ToS? Why are they not doing anything about it. Has it being going on long? How is he able to follow you around. I’ve had stalkers in the past, and it’s pretty easy to never see them ever again if you wish, at least I thought it was.
How does he know where I am? I suppose he just adds me to friend list and see what zone I am in. And considering each zone just has a few hotspots for RP, finding someone is not really all that hard.
You say it’s easy to escape, but it’s not, it’s practically impossible.
If he sees me in the cape of Stanglethorn, it’s 95% sure I am in booty bay, so he goes there to troll me.
If I am in Duskwood then I am probably at the grove so he goes there, then he just does a target macro and he can see me on the mini map.
This has been going on for 2 weeks now, and I am not renewing my subscription if it does not stop.
/ignore should do a lot more than just prevent chat, it should remove all interactions and toy use, and should make them invisible on my screen.
The report function should actually … function.
Tickets should be taken more seriously.
The entire trial character system should be removed.
And temporary suspension just gives me one day of break, if they even do it at all, this should be an IP ban, so he can never log on again.
I even have the Neural Silencer Mk3 item activated, but it does not prevent the Football toy from being used, and even if he does not use a toy on me, he stands on top of me. And as he is pandaren and I am blood elf, it renders me invisible for other roleplayers, they can’t even target me.
Damn, that’s brutal. I had encounters like that back in the day when I was RPing myself. Using mammoth mounts was their favorite.
There’s no solution to that really. You can gather friends and out-harass this imbecile, wait for him to tire of this crap or just create another character and start RPing in other locations.
Blizz wont help you here sadly, but you have my sympathies.
Blizzard ought to create a toy that’d target such players and make them invisible to you tbh, primarily directed to RP usage, including blocking their emotes.
The last one was closed because you made a suggestion + name and shamed at the CS forums. Former which isn’t processed by CS and latter which is against the forum rules which you were informed.
As advised by Felranys you have to use the ingame report options.
You could discuss with the police, but before that, you should discuss with consumer organisations specialised for these problems. What you experience could be considered “stalking” and a form of harassment, however as the offender is not really trying to figure out where you live to stalk you IRL I meant or make actual threats the chances that police may intervene near non-zero. I have seen such cases prior on the forums.
But it does. It just doesn’t generate a lightning bolt hit on him the moment you report them.
If you made it under the ongoing harassment category it will continue to be on their radar. You will have to keep an activity notepad about what happens and where/what character and so on though. It will be tiring.
They won’t do this. Even before the stalking it is more or less abused by goldsellers/boosters for illegal farming and I don’t see them removing it even with that reason in mind even.
You can suggest that through the ingame feedback box. It is a good idea.
This is unrealistic, certain ISP’s uses a dynamic assigned IP that switches (regularly) or on request or even worse, he may be sitting in an internet cafe or campus and you would hit an entire row of innocent people.
It would help your credibility if you told the truth and didn’t exaggerate.
Been online for the last 336 hours have we?
Very much this. It’s sad the onus is placed on you but you need to be methodical and forensic about it, you can’t just say “its happening 24/7” because thats obviously not true.
I don’t need a one post troll alt to tell me what it means. I’m saying they need to be more specific, it can’t hurt and will likely help their case.
Probably trial accounts yes, and when I report them, nothing happens at all.
Don’t have all that many friends, I was hoping to make some, but now I can’t even play the game properly.
I agree with this.
Sounds like a lot of work when Blizzard in theory just needs to take 10 minutes to look into it, and then ban him.
This proves you don’t have the same experience with it as I do. 2 weeks of Roleplay has already been ruined for me, I have reported 100 times. I don’t expect a lightning bolt, but I expect something to be done in a few days at least.
No need to be toxic, you know what I meant, and that is that it happens every time I RP, within 30 mins of logging on, he is on top of me.
My tickets are very spesific, no need to type it all down here in detail, I am just looking for tips on how to deal with it.
So because I’ve not posted before, that means I’m a troll and you wont listen? You’re minimizing the issue she’s having, and I commented to you because clearly you misunderstood.
I was reading this thread, and had a similar issue in the game a few years ago. Ofc Blizzard didn’t do anything about it. It’s not much they can do.
I didn’t minimise the issue at all. I hope I shed some light on how it can be seen by people dealing with issues like these.
And I don’t believe you’ve never posted before. You have 30k achi points and now just happened to make your first post ever? Link your main if you’re confident you’re not lying, otherwise I’ll go ahead and make the very safe assumption that you are.
You just threw some useless opinions in there for no reason, you know what I meant, but instead of coming to this post and helping me, you just went against me and almost derailed the thread.
If you are not helping just go to another thread and use that to up your post count instead, again, you know what I meant, and what you did.
For further posters, read my main post, I am looking for ways to deal with in game harassment and a troll following me around all the time.
You could always try to look for a community or guild that focuses on RP. If you find a RP one im sure other guild members wouldnt mind helping you report the person bothering you. Reporting people nowadays is a number game
Just ignore the Panda, she/he’s probably having a bad day.
My advice to it all, is just keep ignoring this person who is harassing you, keep reporting him, and if he interrupts Roleplay of others around you - they should report him too. Eventually it will build up on his account… if he is using it.
Otherwise, you could always make a new character and be more incognito (It’s relatively quick to level now!) Make sure you have turned off 3rd party sharing on your Blizzard account in privacy, so other web pages can’t link your characters together, etc.
I might do that, but it’s getting harder every day to find large groups on the horde side when I mostly like casual social RP, not event driven.
Or bad few weeks
I could but it’s sad to ditch an entire character and storyline just because of harassment, it also basically means I can’t hang out with the same people since then he will find me again.
I sympathise, harassment is harder in the context you’re experiencing it to my own. I had someone send me harassing messages in game, blocking worked for me until they moved a character to another account to be able to contact me again.
At that point support were very supportive and gave the person a time out from the game and a stern warning. As it was clearly an account they didn’t want to lose they heeded the warning and didn’t contact me again.
The kind of harassment you are suffering is harder to deal with because they keep showing up to your location. Unfortunately Saneko’s suggestion although tedious is your best bet. Keep a diary/log of every name occurance etc that you report. Then you can present all that to Blizzard as ongoing harassment.
I’m not sure they can do much beyond repeatedly banning the person until they get bored.
