Blizzard please communicate about server lag, enough is enough

So Classic WoW is released with two pvp realms, we pick a server, new realms get released we pick a new server, new realms get released we pick a new server, we play the game it lags to hell and has EIGHT HOUR queues so you release a few more realms and we transfer.

All this to hopefully be on a medium pop realm to avoid this lag. Comfyshaker here we are with the lads having a great time, server hits high pop on evenings but it’s fine. You close transfers to Earthshaker and everyone is stoked, we got a nice community, even balanced factions, awesome.

Then it happens, for some reason you decide to reopen transfers to Earthshaker and two days before they close, all of flamelash Alliance basicly moves to Comfyshaker turning it in to Lagshaker. This on it’s own is a joke because you should have never opened transfers for Alliance on Flamelash cause you flatout killed Flamelash, have fun manually opening those gates btw.

So phase 2 gets released and world bosses are out, everyone is excited for this rare period of time in WoW where basicly the entire world = the purged and we get some sick great battles for world bosses. Oh wait, we get this: drive.google .com/file/d/1Jorj5zAU9XiKDPyQtrqFrQ0A5oB_I9AD/view (remove spaces before .com)

At this point you, Blizzard, decide that the outcry for worldpvp is too much plus your servers can’t handle it for beans so let’s release BG’s early, problem solved for the communtiy. Except? World bosses are still a crapshow, moving around on wednesday evening is impossible and this is how it is to try and raid with worldbuffs: twitch.tv/videos/523519756

We spent over 30MINUTES to get to MC from Stormwind just to raid, what the hell? There was no pvp, there was barely any horde, we were just trying to move from SW to IF to BRM. During all this time you have communicated zero times about the lag? I could deal with this if you actively communicated working on it. Classic feels like a unpolished cashcow.

The gate opening is gonna be a nightmare, grinding for the gate opening in silithus will be impossible with this population and the fact your servers can’t handle the pvp.

At this point I’d prefer if you reintroduced sharding/phasing/layers whatever you wanna call them if you can’t fix this, cause this is awfull.

Say something, anything

ps: No we are not transferring again for 25Euros per character.

I’m going to have to agree with Nuckles here. The lack of communication on these issues is a problem in of itself. Please acknowledge the issue, let us know you are working on it, and let’s move forward here. Players getting disconnected from a world buff and getting rolled back is something that should be addressed.
If you can’t fix that specific issue immediately, perhaps it’s time to remove the time restrictions on popping the Ony head and then these massive clusters will be reduced in the short-term until you can find a long-term solution.

Nuckles makes a very fair point about the future and the Gates of AQ, if we can’t handle a world buff in a city, we’re in for a very rough ride when AQ gates are opened.

I come here representing 23 Alliance Guilds that coordinate Buffs on Earthshaker:
Idiocracy, Dynasty, Rewind, Casual Tryhards, BlackSheepWall, Consequence, Midlife Crisis, Pohjola, Venture, big dige mining co, Team Træls, Veritas, Meh, Jed’s Raiders, Vindicate, GOONS, SVS, JUJU, EZ, Amnesia, Unchained, Booty Baywatch, and Novus.

We represent over 1000 paying accounts, please tell us what’s going on.

Thanks.

You would think bliz would have thought this through when putting the cap on servers 5 times higher than during vanilla wouldn’t you.

Been like this on Firemaw every day since launch :stuck_out_tongue:

It could be lag, but Blizzard actually introduced a “feature” called spell batching. It basically introduces artificial lag to every action you make in order to make the game feel “authentic”. Google it

Thank you for not reading the op.

I’ve read it and I agree with the OP. I’ve just given another example of intentional lag introduced by Blizzard.

+1 TO nuckels

OG Flat-earthshaker here, yes indeed pls fix blizz, force the flametrashians back

Been playing on a high pop server since Classic release. Haven’t had a single moment of lag. Sounds like the usual round of blaming Blizzard for your bad internet connection.

If you’re gonna troll at least try better than this, thanks for the free bump though.

Server pop has nothing to do with lag.

The servers are incapable of parsing requests from 70+ players simultaneously. Whenever your screen has 2+ raids on it casting spells your game will lag and no transfer will ever change that. The game is ultra trash garbage and hopefully will die in 3-6 months.

More people on the server, more likely to have too many people in a shard (yes there are still shards, it’s just one shard per zone that’s why you have a slight lag spike when quickly traversing back and forth between zones.)

Which ever server you go. At least 2 raids will show up on every world boss/ event and you will have unplayable lag. The game is just trash.

Actually that isn’t what it does per se. The spell batching refers to the way the server synchronizes events on the server side (since events aren’t real-time for everyone), which has been a part of the game since forever. It’s still a thing in retail now, they’ve just put in a lot of priority settings and whatnot to give the illusion of real-time.

For classic, they reversed it back to 200ms every server tick for pretty much everything, because that’s what it was like in vanilla. It basically means that every 200ms, the server compiles the events that it received during those 0.2s, and treats it like events that happened at the same time.

This doesn’t mean that every action YOU perform will take 0.2s until it happens on the server side. That’s just a huge misunderstanding of the way it works.
Your action can be done at the 150ms moment, or at the 15ms moment, and it won’t show its effect on the server side until the following 200ms tick. So if you performed the action at the 150ms moment, it’d only take 50ms until the server registers it. Get it?

The reason it was brought back was partly due to bring back the “feeling” of how it was played back then, but also, and this is probably the more important aspect to any pvper, is that it affected the PvP balancing design performed back then.
Yes, they actually intentionally designed around the spell batching windows back then for pvp interactions of game and class mechanisms.

It would only get further away from vanilla if they’d bring in retail’s version of spell batching.

So imagine a bus… and the bus leaves the station every 15minutes…

Shoutouts to those who get this reference.

The several minutes long lag-outs of running in place unable to cast instant cast spells is NOT, say it with me here, NOT because of ‘spell-batching’.
It simply isn’t.
No.

This it was just a missunderstanding.

Just like in vanilla
#no changes!

During my WPvP back then in TM vs SS skirmishes I never had as bad lag as this. Nor around world bosses.
The only time there was even a comparable amount of lag was during AQ gate opening, which incase you didn’t know, is not something we’ve had yet on Classic.
