This is political correctness gone mad. At this point maybe Blizzard should just put all the female NPCs and characters in burqas with no dialogue, lest someone be offended or excited by the sound of their voice. We’re going back to victorian era puritanism, no ankles allowed to be shown either.
It is a good job you started this thread, we wouldn’t have known about it otherwise
Yes it is getting a bit over the top now. However, it will only get worse as more and more things are removed. It has put me off playing tbh, left a very bad taste in my mouth.
In the grand scheme of things not so important, but it is very sad it’s happening.
Wow what a new and refreshing topic!
I’ll never understand that reaction but each to their own I suppose. I’ve said my piece on this in other threads.
Do something about this “female” NPC , pls!
Too much boobies… too much naked flesh…
And is one of the Burning Crusade bosses which every new leveler meet in the first hour of the game…
And this
But only if it’s a reference to the R Kelly song
it is a good thing that brilliant people like me and you are around to enlighten people about the dark deeds of the big corporations. keep up the good work
It’s all because they were spread by chemtrails!
I agree with Skinrip. Not because it affects gameplay, really. But more the principal of it all. I don’t want to have anything to do with crazy woke people, and that’s why I’m considering pulling the plug on this game, at long last.
In New World, you can manually select gender for your titles, because some are gendered. You can have male, female or neutral gender, and it has nothing to do with the gender of your character. You can have a female body and male pronouns.
I have no idea why I wrote that. I guess if you hate Blizzard’s pretty vanilla “wokeness” you wouldn’t like… like every major game coming out these days, because they all put Blizzard’s weak “wokeness” to shame.
Well, I only play WoW these days. And it has always been my main game. Not planning on playing anything else, so if I quit, I’m done gaming, unless I decide to get an Xbox, or whatever.
With that said, I’m truly happy that people are comfortable being who they are. I’m happy to see people go against “the norm”, so all the power to them. I just don’t need it shoved in my face at every turn I take.
In the context of WoW, I dislike the fact that they remove silly things that gave the game some flavour - even if a bit controversial for today’s standards - so it just makes me sad to see it go. But I’ll get over it, of course hehe.
I find it wrong to remove things also. I dont need RL trends or RL politics in any of my games. I play fantasy games to have fun and get away from all that. Censorship dosent do anything good for anyone. I am a woman and honnestly i find what they are doing is kinda sexist aswell but sadly everyone seems to get offended about everything and inclusion really means exclusion in many ways when it comes to “wokeness” And who knows, like the OP said maybe we will end in Burqas or Hijab cause some people needs beeing pampered. Alot of this reminds me of an episode in southpark where the kids are gonna perform a play and all the parrents get offended or feel excluded yadi yada so it ends with the kids wearing plastic bags infront of a green curtain performing some wierd s… and the adults finally realize that things went way to far
Well, I think it goes the other way around.
Devs want to play in a fantasy world too, just that the fantasy is that the MAJORITY is actually LGBTQ+ , 75% powerful women, 20% submissive men, 4% weak women that are againts powerful women and 1% white male.
If that would be the case, they could just say so and we will prob let WoW be their safespace, and we hope they/them/she/shy/sho/shoe/shoo never leave it.
At least it is a posibility, you should try and be more open to posibilities.
thank you OP, i would have never know this, bringing up such important topics!
let’s be honest here, they’re removing tons of bad jokes and a couple of good ones…
That is what INCLUSIVITY is all about. To understand that even if something seems far to you, it might be close to someone else. Not all jokes are made for everybody.
During 16 years they were not removed and I don’t wanna think it was becasue all players are trash mindless teens, or all devs were trash midnless devs.
For 16 years we were ok with them because, perfect doesn’t exist and “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”
From my PoV that is all there is.
I’m not for removing them, even if they are bad jokes. 99% of what’s being removed I wouldn’t have bothered removing as they weren’t harming anyone.
The only thing I’m kind of glad that’s going is /spit.
The only thing I’m quite sad is going is /moon.
Everything else is meh.
Exactly what I was saying earlier, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. That works bothways. I’m sure that there is at least a person that prob hates /moon and loves /spit
So a terrible example of INCLUSIVITY gone wrong: you EXCLUDE existing people just so you feel you can INCLUDE yourself, all at the same time while AT ALL TIMES absolutly NO ONE ELSE was EXCLUDING YOU.
It is not wrong to speak about bad thinks, it is wrong to do them. But who defines ordinary things, that don’t need a LAW, as being BAD or GOOD ?
All I’ll say is.
The removal of so much is a bad move and PR influenced.
What occurs in the office is unrelated to what is in the game and has been in the game since its inception / a very long time.
It’s cringe worthy, it isn’t needed and it isn’t going to solve the issue.
I think most of us can agree they are very out of touch, let us hope things improve and the game improves and SL gets some redemption in later patches
