It’s pretty ridiculous how laggy the servers are even when there’s just 2-3 full raids in 1 zone, “fights” like this isnt even fun for anyone, and this is how every world boss fight is going to be like on the higher population servers…
I agree.
If they don’t work on that, the PvP in phase 2 and the World Boss will be a disaster and that will be a massive leave on the game. No point to play on a unplayable game.
Even in 2004 we don’t have lag like that.
Private server is far superior as Classic server, this is just ridiculous to be outperformed by private server administrator that made that in their own room, while Blizzard is a multi-millions dollars compagny. This is just ridiculous.
let me guess you play horde on gehennas. must say its fun to not be able to cast spells for 1min. I wonder if the reference client could handle this many people or if its a bfa client thing
Yeah the server quality is absolutely shocking, even 20 people in one spot is enough to raise MS.
There is no way in hell the server is going to handle 2 raids going at each other.
world boss is going to be alot more than 2 raids going at each other on high pop servers
I thought that horde dominates most PvP servers. I guess it won’t be a problem, they’ll just slaughter any alliance and that’s about it.
Horde are garbage on gehennas so even outnumbered, alliance owns them. Case in point diremaul releace all top horde guilds dead on the ground
Since people want #nochanges - then it’s working as intended…
Im pretty sure spell batch is 400ms, not 60 000
It’s called adaptive performance scaling yo
Is there a reason why blizzard servers lag so much? Because on private servers you can truly get a thousand people together and I promise you won’t lag at all. So how come blizzard servers crash and burn if you do this?
Probably because they use retail client which isnt at all optimised for this kind of pvp. Its very possible that their reference client would run smoother for this
There is really no sure way to know the answer to this without talking to a Blizzard engineer that is somehow able to answer openly and honestly. That is unlikely to ever happen so we have to guess a little bit.
My guess is that it is simply a matter of money. When a private server has 200 players fighting in the same location they have the spare server capacity to handle that. From a business perspective the problem with that is that it is capacity that is most of the time sitting idle costing money. So Blizzard instead only pays for capacity to cover the common scenario and not the uncommon load. This all of course to reduce operating costs and benefiting the shareholder.
Private servers had over 12k pop at aq launch with 1000+ people at aq gates on launch. 12k is probably a higher pop than layered server capped. And these events that included way more players at the location and on the server as a whole had no lag. So dont tell me that server cost is an issue when a 500euro/month server was able to handle that. The operating cost of the servers is negligible
500 sounds cheaper than these types of things usually cost but I guess it’s possible. Still though keep in mind that Blizzard isn’t buying server capacity in the same way. They are buying huge amounts of capacity and probably from where they can get it the cheapest. It doesn’t make sense in that case to buy way more than you will need most of the time, at least not from a profit perspective. It of course makes perfect sense from a player perspective.
They were public about their operating costs. But at 500/month capable of doing the job for 10s of thousands of active subscriptions, it iw ludicrous to think that operating costs is even a factor
Were or are, and were when and where can I find it? Ahh you mean private servers. Yeah I can believe it but it’s a very different deal than what a company like Blizzard is buying.
Were sadly since their website shutdown when they closed
If we accept for a moment the idea that it is not money then we are left with some really strange explanations. We have to then believe that for whatever reason Classic is causing an order of magnitude more server load than private servers had to deal with. It’s really weird if that is the case.
To give you an example of how little load private servers require to run, you can run a repack of the nost private server localy on your computer. Did this to practice speed lvling route
