No that not how it works.
This seeing as fewer multiboxers causes higher prices, so more gold income for the average player and with it, the price of the token will not go down at all.
And lastely, most players do not buy tokens; they still pay the sub fee normally. They do sell tokens however, and if the price would drop, they would sell even more… people kinda want X gold, not less then X.
Other paid games have been ruined by bots and multiboxers. Blizz knows this, they observe the market. Keeping one person’s 100 subscriptions may not be worth it, if that one person is causing 1000 other to feel like the game isn’t fair, which will ultimately contribute to Blizz losing more subscriptions if they don’t take action.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Blizz gains subs from taking action against multiboxers.
Except they are not paying any money, boting gold and using that gold to pay the sub fee and still makes profit…
Whit this move Blizz actually will get money, because if they want to continnue, after they are out of gold, they have to pay pay pay that sweet money to papa Blizz
That is not how economics works. You’ve made the assumption that these players have unlimited disposable real-world income or that a certain gold level in game is a necessity like … bread or paying your heating bill. When the ‘value’ of a token drops relative to the price of in-game items - as it will since it’ll have a lower face value and goods will go up - there is less likelihood of anyone buying a token.
Economics is a complicated thing though and Blizzard has a direct hand in manipulating the price of tokens - something that has never been fully disclosed - so the price could do anything. If it were purely a free market it ought to drop but we’ll see.
The reason people sell tokens is to get gold. And gold has no rl value; money does. (wich is very important to not here)
Farmable mats right now are almost worthless due to people being outfarmed by multiboxers. And after those are gone, prices for those mats go up.
People therefor end up getting more gold in their pockets due to way less gold flowing into pockets of multiboxers. People can therefor buy more tokens at higher prices. Ofsetting pricedrop from loss of multiboxers.
So people end up selling just as many tokens. The only thing that changes is that a small subset of players will end up having a harder time getting their free subs from multiboxing.
Token prices will not go downhill like many believes, but mboxers def not buying subs/expacs with real money either (except their first one or two accounts).
Then we’re just back to where we started. Not a huge deal.
Benjamin, can you quit worrying about the finances of a multi-million (if not billion) dollar company?
The CEO and board members will still be able to afford their paid summer vacations.
Blizzard over here closing down a huge office and Benjamins out here concerned about Blizzards profits being a few million off their 9 figure estimate.
I love how people argued with me about the definition of automation and how they were sure that they are right and how they were sure that Blizzard won’t do anything
All those “defenders” of Mboxing with 3rd party software are looking pretty stupid right now
Well it all disappears if they get all their accounts banned. I bet most of the people with 20+ accounts will not stick to the new rules and will eventually get banned… what else are they going to with all those accounts now? They can’t possibly control those accounts in a way that Blizzard will allow now and even they did find a way that was ‘technically’ allowed Blizz will just change the rules again.
Anyone with half a brain has stopped using bannable programs. Certainly the guy I was refering canceled most of his accounts, but he found a work-around and is still doing afk farming all day using 6-8 druids.
