Blizzard: The buff to Vulpera won't be enough to bring it in line with the other races

This is following the recently announced racial buffs for underrepresented races

Disclaimer: For the most part racial balance will not effect the ordinary player and you can pick whatever you want as most races are close for damage, however when you start to push high keys and mythic raid HoF rankings it does begin to matter more and some races are clear outliers for being more useful than others, thats the basis of this discussion

The Problem:
Vulpera does not have a passive stat or active stat ability to do damage. It relies on Bag of Tricks, a push to do damage button. This means its damage racial component is pure single target, the problem with this is that for many classes and specs it is simply not worth pushing in any situation where you could push something else.

While the buffs to the under represented races are nice if you look at bloodmallet and pick almost any class and spec Vulpera will be either bottom or in the bottom three.

Even after the 40% buff it’s racial will not be good enough to make it more competitive. Better yes but but still not anywhere near good enough as for most classes this will just result in bag of tricks being worth pushing during downtime as opposed to not pushing the ability at all for DPS.

Vulpera’s utility is fine, nose for trouble is a decent racial but is not enough to warrant playing one on its own.

The Solution:
As blizzard is buffing the under-represented races this is the perfect time to give Vulpera just a little more to help it out. As the racial is pure single target damage with no AoE component why shouldnt Vulpera be a bit better at single target than say, void elf that will now proc a flat 5% damage increase to all damage. This is why I think vulpera would benefit from either adding a flat 1% stat increase (e.g. haste) OR giving back of tricks an additional DoT/HoT component to make it more competitive.

These would still make the race mid-pack in terms of damage output but that is absolutely fine. The goal of these changes is to improve race representaiton by buffing the underpowered racials and increasing racial throughput. Vulpera just needs a little more than is planned in this department and that will bring it more in line with other races.

Vulpera literally have the best Racial in the game, GTFO.

I’m vulpera for their utility… extra bag space and being able to save yourself anywhere outdoors, turning WM OFF on the spot, they make an excellent race for Collectors.

If anything, make Bag of Tricks a passive ability to proc throwing a vial on the target depending if you’re healing or DPS’ing it, where it can do a Direct or DoT/HoT. Nothing major in its performance.

As it says in the disclaimer this is purely from the point of the race being in line with others in terms of competitive DPS/HPS throughput. For collectors this won’t matter.

It’s literally becoming upgraded to a 4 sec, 80% slow, that’s an insanely good racial.

For M+ and Raiding this really isn’t, which is the focal point of my discussion. Look at bloodmallet, they will still do less DPS than every other race in the game for the majority of classes and specs, and that their racial is ST only makes it worse. If they had “the best racials in the game” they would not be as underrepresented as they are.

If we’re talking M+ and Raiding, then Undeads could do with an upgrade themselves. Sure, we can break some low-tier CC, which most classes have other abilities to break anyway. Otherwise our Damage Racial is a randomly proccing ability that hits for so little, most undeads only notice it, when it accidentally kills a low level mob they try to poke.

At least Vulpera can choose when to use theirs when they wish to and plan ahead.

I agree, the undead racials for damage is also really bad and could use a buff. But the undead racial is still better than vulpera for damage and will still likely be after these changes. Undead is currently low/midpack while vulpera is bottom/low.

If their Damage Racial is buffed, their others should be nerfed though. They can get all the good stuff and also have a proper combat racial too

Also, Goblins have a pitiful single-target rocket that also hits for barely anything.

A lot of the Racials needs to be reworked honestly.

Goblins never use the damage rocket, they have a passive 1% haste which makes them mid/high tier and they are the best enhancement shaman DPS race.

They get the jump boots which are insanely good, I would reccomend you have a look at the racial data from bloodmallet to give yourself a more clear idea of how good/bad races can be.

Oh, I see, it’s because you’re only looking at their ability to play in M+ and endgame content. I look at it a bit more overall, including all aspects of the game. And the fact that they can literally place down a hearthstone location at any place and have access to more inventory space than anyone else, makes them Top-tier. As they have access to things no other race can do.

I see the things that you think of as top tier as nice bonuses rather than things that are essential to the races. In an ideal world Blizzard should just remove damage/healing racials and have them not matter, let each race have some utility/perks so people can play whatever they want.

That’s what I do, I don’t care about my racials. I play the race because I like the fantasy or look

I would love to do this but I’m in a place where I cant pick my race because of just fantasy/look, which is why its so frustrating. Id love to play Vulpera but it would be inting my guild to do so

Alternatively; do away with racials and allow players to mix and match perks for Offensive, Defensive and Utility similar to the rune system in League of Legends.

Don’t care as long as you don’t touch my tent ability

I find it generally hard to believe ppl seriously pick the race of their character based on the racial… other than PvPers maybe.

Mostly done by meta slaves who fancy themselves pro gamers.

How constructive to the conversation, thank you

Thx, always happy to help! Removing racials would be smarter instead of some useless tuning… and bringing costumization options for all races to the same level.
