It’s so simple - Blizzard have the power to fix almost all of the player problems overnight with one extended maintenance.
Balance the servers.
Start with Gehennas, Firemaw and Jin’do.
Take 12,000 Subs from each of the Mono PvP Servers, Gehennas and Firemaw and Drop them into Jin’do and then merge Gehenna’s and Firemaw.
Two faction balanced Mega PvP Servers - perfect for PvP and Group Formation - and then lock them forever.
3 problems solved in one Fell Swoop.
Take all of the underpopulated and imbalanced PvE Servers and - BALANCE THEM - move players into sensibly organised groupings of faction balanced servers.
People will scream and people will shout
BUT
Blizzard will be fixing almost all the complaints and - more importantly - making PvP servers - well - you know - PvP
That’s complete and utter BS!
The wpvp community is incredibly large and noone actually cares about BGs anymore.
I agree with OP! That would be the optimal solution. The only problem is that many people that play on pvp servers actually belong to pve servers.
The monofaction pvp server phaenomenon didn’t happen because ppl don’t like wpvp. It happened because people behave like sheep and a few of the bigger guilds start leaving a server once their faction starts to decline. People need tp start facing the facts
You think this affect only World PvP?
Battle Grounds are cross-realm, LFG is not.
If we had cross-realm LFG, nobody would care about faction balance.
We do not have cross-realm LFG, people have difficulties to find other players in right spec and level range necessary for some content, and thus they complain about faction balance.
Also.
Nobody on Jin’do nor Thekal want the GDKP infested Gehennas and Firemaw crowd on their realm.
This’ll make quite a few on Jin’do and Thekal players quit aswell, so you lose even more.
Imagine you getting picked as “one off the 12k players” and you get thrown into a different realm.
Unable to play with your guild.
Unable to play with your friends, who might be in a different guild.
Unable to play with your community (whatever content type it may be).
FORCING players is NEVER a solution.
Fact is, the players on Firemaw or Gehennas don’t care about WPVP. Otherwise they wouldn’t be on a mass monofaction server.
So they don’t even have “issue’s” you claim they have, a balanced playerbase would bare them more issue’s because it’ll mean less players available.
its a hypothetical - but if I were Blizzard I would move whole guilds - that simple - so nobody would wake up without their entire guild with them.
Guilds tend to have a core raiding group or sometimes two - with the rest of the members casuals and alts.
I can’t see how your response works in that scenario.
It’s just a weak bleat from a sick lamb - the servers are broken and imbalances.
Best solution is for Blizz to be exceptionally pragmatic and fix them.
And looking just at Firemaw and Gehannes - there are PvP realms - so if they are balanced to be PvP and Locked players will be getting the server type they rolled on
For example my IRL friends main Wotlk:c, I main retail.
They raid in a guild in wotlk:c, I am not in that guild because I am “too casual” for them. But I still do dungeons and pvp content with my friends.
They’ll be transferred off and I will be left alone, unable to play with my friends.
Also, some guilds are so massive they use a 2nd or even 3th guild to manage their members. They will also be split up by your idea.
Sure they are Pvp realms, but Pvp is a dying gamemode.
Also, just like the past PvP servers are always the most popular and end up monofactionous because Wpvp is pointless to the most, Mass servers for PvErs are a way to find more players or faster groups, since PvP servers are the largest, they flock to the PvP servers.
That is why in retail there are no pvp servers, but there is warmode.
Sounds to me like you just want to be playing on a mono faction mega server - a casual that is part of the problem not the solution.
That’s my opinion - but your stance is the reason servers are out of whack and completely dysfunctional in their current state.
To make the game great again you need smaller servers with good faction balance and to ensure no cross realm Dungeons or Raids so that server reputation becomes important again.
That is the essence of the Classic Experience - the need for actions to have consequences.
I’ll let that hang there - the topic was posted to see a variety of views - not to have a one on one with a Retail players who casually interacts with Classic
Servers are exactly how players wanted them to be, all players themselves made them this way.
And if not locked, megaservers would be even bigger then they are now, so solutions are not needed, players wouldnt want any change from this state, players are happily killing dragons every day.
I can understand you miss gank…khm Wpvp, but most players voted for monofaction so they can happily measure epeen in peace. Before last years free transfer, they even paid 25€/character to play on monofaction server, not balanced one.
That was the case in classic vanilla, not in later expansions. Blizzard even had to delete pvp servers how troublesome they were and made Warmode. And even with Warmode, they had to offer pve rewards to players who turn warmode on. Very few want wpvp after vanilla.
its the point I made - players claim PvP realms are the true Classic experience - and then they organise themselves into 2 mono faction mega servers so they don’t have to open world PvP
Perhaps do the server consolidations and making them 50/50 and PvE would cause less angst.
They were 50/50 and for pve goals, wpvp is just waste of time, no rewards in it. So players did get rid of 50/50 so they have more time for pve minmaxing.
