Blizzard why can't you follow final fantasy IV realm transfer model!

I don’t understand why free transfers are not possible when your biggest competitor offer this as a free service.

there are clearly to many people stuck on servers like firemaw who don’t want to keep starting from scratch or is to complex to move entire guilds

This doesn’t effect me as I’m on ashbringer so I’m not making this post for myself as my queue is 20-30 mins after work which I queue then go for shower.

Here is pricing for final fantasy realm transfers all the time

Home World Transfer Service Fee

£12 / 14,00 € per transfer
Transfers to New Worlds: Free
Transfers from Congested Worlds to Preferred Worlds: Free

with so many things blizzard copy paste from warhammer online i dont understand why they dont copy paste this.

Pissing people off more with queues, and encourageing people to invest more time in their chars will make them more likely to PAY for transfers later. I don’t see free transfers happening, after all it’s Blizzard we’re talking about here.

Surely player retention is more important than the money they would have made than few thousand transfers first impressions are important

You’re all forgetting that this is Acti-Blizz we’re talking about.
If it isn’t as profitable as their other franchises (and by profitable I mean up-front cost, battle pass, loaded with micro-transactions and DLC etc) they will give it the bare minimum resources it needs to properly function.
We would be extremely lucky if we even see an apology from them over this complete mess of a launch, let alone a free realm transfer.

Free transfer? lol

You have to remember that servers are communities. Would you be pleased to be the highest level on your server and see some rusher transfer over from a PvE server on which he started earlier than you and take over? There are disadvantages too, it is not that simple.

My best guess is that it has something to do with game development that literally noone here understands.

Some MMOs don’t even require you to have your character tied to a server in the first place, and you can just hop between realms at will. Their coding is built that way, whereas WoW and other MMOs like FFIV are coded in a way that ties characters to specific servers - with that, there’s likely a big difference in the amount of ‘work’ it takes to decouple the character from the server and tie it to a new one without losing any of the data, therefore explaining why it’s easier for one game than the other.

And don’t forget here, one of these games is now using code that is 15 years old.

I didn’t know that playing Cecil in FFIV I played MMO. Why I have not seen any other players? ;dddd

And this game is 28 years old!

Simple. People still pay for it…

A 28 year game has no queues, a 15 year old game has!

WTF BLIZZ

They built classic on legion code if i’m not mistaken.
They did not have the original code anymore.
That’s why they talked to the devs of private servers to rebuild it.

Yeah is depressing to see almost all the companies that used to deliver a great product for the consumer go down this micro-transaction path and ruin games with potential.

Hopefully it will backfire on them all big time
