Blizzards Ban System

Hello,
last night i was playing and thought i levlel one more char on a low pop realm, so i can use it to farm and camp some rares to get missing mounts and/or toys.
All of a sudden i got logged out and was informed that my Account that i play since release got banned for the use of cheats/hacks.

Is it against the EULA to use remix mechanics (like keeping Bonus EXP in your Mail)
I never used in 20 Years any illegal software or hacks. I do not even participate in Bug abuse like the Frog farm, as i enjoy playing and often do it while watching a movie.

It seems the apeal System is automated and i get the same answer.

With TWW coming and remix ending, i do not want to wait for weeks till this finally would be resolved by an actual Human.

Anyone an idea how i can get around the automated system and speak to an actual GM?

Thank for your help.

It might be for something that happened a while ago. Their ban system isnt “delyed” so to say. But they 1st do an invetigation then after days week or months they ban you.

But its best to post in Customer Support forum. Although its also not allowed to discuss actions on the forum.

You can push a ticket if you’re not happy with the response [typical first response is a copy/paste script].

Sorry seems i can’t post with my original account anymore.

I am using VPN’s for work a lot and have wow running on a second screen doing some brainless farming or fishing during meetings.

Can it be that it is because of VPN use?

No. A lot of people use VPNs for security reasons.

But cloud gaming is, with the exception of using Geforce NOW as it’s officially supported there.

Do you use any software for your job that is running at the same time you have wow running that might have triggered the anti-cheat software? Even something you think is innocent running in the background can trigger a ban for cheating if the anti-cheat/bot software picks it up.

It might be this yeah, i saw a topic once before about someone who got banned for the same reason because he had a programm installed for work wich kind of worked as an autoclicker so his screens not go in sleep mode. But forgot to turn it of for wow

It might also be just a mass report by people trying to claim the farming spots

Yes of course i have tons running. we are developing at the moment a tracking software that and this webpage is doing refreshes all the time, so the Data is always up to date. I have screen recording software running to make videos on my findings.
So you are saying i should not have the wow client open while doing my work?
I mean they should see that i do not get anything special in wow. I am the most average player with average gear and average gold.
If i would use any Software, would it not somehow reflect on my Char?

I’m not technical enough to know what is exactly allowed or not. But yeah i’m pretty sure some programs can trigger the system into thinking you are cheating.

I think the screen recording likely wont be any issue otherwise streamers and youtubers wouldnt be able to record things either.

But maybe the tracking software running in the background collecting data might be concidered shady ? IDK, best is to ask the customer support

Hilarious I only just watched this the other day saying how VPNs are not a security service, they only serve to change your geo location.

Unfortunately the only way to appeal is via the ticket system. CS can’t help you either, they can’t discuss a case, nor are we allowed to discuss them on the forums.

All you can do is try to reply to the answer you’ve received/reopen that ticket.

Thank you. I at the same time did a refund reuest for the epic TWW, cause if they do not unban i can’‘t play and i want to refund, as i can not use the software and service due to their actions.
Let’‘s see if one of them replies.
Thank you guys, it’'s just frustrating, as familly went on a trip and i was looking forward to play this weekend.

He is very much correct, but that will not stop people from falling for the advertised security aspect of VPNs. So in this case both you and Beerwolf are technically correct. VPNs are used by people for security reasons, despite not being particularly useful for that purpose.

As for the topic, a friend of mine got banned a while back for third party hacks as well. He is also someone who was playing from vanilla up to now. From what he told us, he was banned after farming stuff in Remix. He swears up and down that he would never use a hacks, and I do want to believe him. Of course all I have is his word, but it seems Blizzard is very trigger happy with the bans at the moment.

I keep thinking and think what i could have done. I lvled 10+ chars to 70, to have one of every class. I ran a lot of pandaria lfr’'s cause they have no lockout to get the transmog.
And i ran some dungeons when the legacy drops had the high cold value ( not more than i normally would do) i fished for legion bait as the prize is so high and i ran firelands leather farm to level my leatherworker.
I levled 2 chars with prepatch mainly circling above the areas cause monsters would 1shot me. That is all.
And overall over the last year, i mainly did SL storyline and ran old raids and dungeons. And i started to sell transmogs.
I do not consider any of these things abuse. It really grinds my gears. maybe i should go outside and relax. But my whole plan for the weekend is destroyed.

Just put in a ticket.

I’ve been falsely banned before and it was overturned very quickly. Whatever triggers the bans gets it wrong occasionally.

Also, in your face to the “waaa blizz never bans anyone” crowd.

Well if the ban message said it was for cheats/hacks then i doubt its for normal stuff you did in game. So i think it is most likely its because one of those programms running in the background.

Btw are you permabanned? since you said you wouldnt be able to play the next expansion

It only says banned. and email says account closed.

Is Keeping Bonus EXP in your Mail against the EULA? To this day, all you need to do is stand next to your e-mail box and people still level up like that every now and then. They gave this opportunity and it has not been changed in any way to this day.

False positive bans do happen, more than Blizzard care to admit. It does sound like the Warden system banned you because of a program from work you’re using. It’s very sensitive to that.

All you can do is disable it and ensure you’re not playing WoW on anything other than your personal computer. Keep appealing. If you really didn’t do anything wrong, I’m sure you’ll be unbanned. However I believe it’s their policy not to offer refunds when you’re banned.

I have also read from people playing on Linux that a particular version of DirectX emulation gets flagged as a cheat tool by Blizzard’s watchdog and might result in a ban. And with most of Blizzard’s CS these days being automated, no one really knows what leads to timeouts and bans.

I hope your issue gets resolved soon and that you can return to playing. Unfortunately the only way to improve the situation is when enough people quit the game over the horrendous customer service that they feel the need to make meaningful changes to the system. And I’m rather pessimistic in that regard…
