Blizzards "quality" is more and more going downhill

Judging by the quality of Remix, Cata and the latest retail patches, it does seem to me like the quality and care put into development has gone downhill very fast.

I also think its insane how there is paid community mangers, that do not communicate anywhere with the community. They just post hotfix notes every now and then. Not a single word on the sorry state of most game versions…
Customer support is a bunch of bots or actual humans being paid to copy paste non-related nonsense.

I don’t have trust in this company will be able to create any “good game” anymore. I have bought every expansion ever and played it, but I think I will be taking a break of blizzard games personally.
I do hope nonetheless that they will get themselves together. But all signs dont seem to point that way in my opinion.

As always but especially now, do not pre-order anything and check if you can cancel your preorder. Wait to see the game first.

I’m making this post to show my personal opinion with blizzards recent development.
Please let me know how you are feeling about this. Or if I just been unlucky with running into all kinds of issues of quality control, bad decisions or often just bad coding (e.g. frogger hotfix, cata launch, d4 loading all stashtabs, …).

For me these issues have taken my fun away a lot. To the point i rather not play the game.

But your point is totally fair if you are having fun, everything else does not matter as much. I think thats generally fine

Nah, it’s because I know I’m going to play it anyway.

Then that is sad, ofcause, but if you dont find it fun then you shouldnt play it.

Not to berate you, but a lot of people play this game because they feel they need to do it. “There is no need, there is only fun, or no fun.” <-“Spoken in the voice of Yoda.”

I think remix could’ve been better, but I wouldn’t call it a total disaster. Definitely not worth 3 months of gameplay though.
Can’t comment on cata, people said the dungeons are nerfed, and that was the main reason I wanted to play it so…

I believe the source of most problems is that for most people the content is quite short-lived, and most players never get to see the fully functional, fixed, balanced, tuned version of it that comes months after release.

For me I like to progress my char (as i guess a lot of mmo players do), and a lot of times when i see that there is no care and love in creating the game anymore. Its just a buggy mess made the extract the most money out of this year old game.
It feels like im wasting my time more and more instead of having fun. And yes ofc thats what games do, but i hope you understand what im trying to say

I mean is there any other game in the world with the Infinity Stone of monetization… And all that greed/money does lead to worse and worse products somehow…
It just doesn’t add up

@Qwik

I really think

@Warcraft

MOP Remix is a fantastic, amazing idea. Really cool. That said, if Blizzard does this again they need to address the quality issues. Can’t really explain some of the bugs and issues in this. Quality has to remain job #1 at Blizzard.

Fires most QA - wonders why quality tanks. Thats a Senior Exec at work folks.

Don’t worry, this time Bliz have hired thousands of Go-Live testers that will give it a good test 3 days before actual launch. They’ll find most of hte issues and we’ll get a few hotfixes quite quickly.

I think this is also a very good point. It feels like you need to keep up with the game while not playing it to find the perfect spot to start playing without feeling like getting f****d over.

Lets hope with all the pre order Beta tester it does not make it to live. If it does then I am going to have to agree with OP. Pushing out content faster is not a bad idea as long as you manage to keep with quality assurance and keep the experience positive for your paying client base.

That’s the fun part, for remix for example all the “exploits” and bugs were already known from the PTR.
AFAIK this was also the case with Cata.

But the only changes after the PTR was to nerf XP on the cloak. So the problem is not with issues not being discovered, but somewhere else.

They make a decision to release it without fixing the bugs, even if i dont understand the reasons for this… Since fixing the ones i have seen would probably take about 5-10 minutes “coding”…

I assume your comment was ironic, but i still wanted to mention this

Personally that is not a good example as what you call an exploit was in the game 12 years ago and had an achievement attached to it. I believe they simply overlooked that part or did not expect it to become the go to for so many players. Whatever the reasons it was not ideal so lets just agree to disagree on this one.

An exploit/bug to me was the crafting exploit/bug at the start of DF - that was reported in BETA but still made it to live.

Might be related to a time management problem and not meeting deadlines as they want to push out content as fast as possible and on time, then hope its not discovered before they can patch. We know so far they almost always fail at this because those that tested and found it will got check, find it and then abuse it.

No there was concrete reports about frog farming being way more powerful than anything else. And i think you can also expect at least one of the devs to have played MOP to know that these frogs exist :person_shrugging:
There is also many other examples. I can list more if necessary, but one of the most obvious ones was the frogger hotfix:

  • They did not use the right metric for the punishment. Instead of looking for frog kills or similar they uses lucky charm turinins. This lead to many people getting hit with the punishment that did not participate in said abuse (for example me  ). This also made many abusers to get away with it by just not spending their charms until the hotfix.

  • They wanted to add a 40k reward for non abusers, but instead of creating a quest that is only available if for example did_not_abuse_frogs=true, they created the quest that was only available if you did not have a specific flag (e.g. frog_abuser=true). This made all people logged in at the time of the hotfix, be able to claim the 40k. Since apparently this flag was only set when relogging.

I can also add more examples if necessary but i think this shows well, that something in their development is going very very wrong.
And i mean these things can happen but this is now more than a week ago with no official statement and support not wanting to help either. Its basically just bad luck if you got hit :man_shrugging:

Blizzard is losing quality since 2009.
And this actually isnt blizzard. The real blizzard team left the company…

There was a very obvious point in time where quality obviously dropped.

And it coincided with a certain scandal.

I’ve played WoW since 2005 and I can say for certain that Blizzard used to be a company which was dedicated to creating epic experiences (in their own motto) in games. It all changed when Activision bought Blizzard Entertainment, which is when Activision started interfering with how Blizzard should do business: To focus more on profits than creating good games.

If a game isn’t fun stop.

Gaming is a hobby my friend, yes for some work.

Take a break and come back fresh, try some other MMOs. I had a blast playing SWTOR and GW2! Both amazing titles.
