I’m assuming this is something they took from the mogu in throne of thunder, I don’t recall them ever using blood stuff before that.

Yeah, I think the same, but maybe it was retconned and Blood Mage in Warcaft 3 used some blood magic? But I don’t recall anything mentioned abou this in the game. I guess it was just a name.
Blood Mage in WC3 was just firemage, other than that blood mage in wow have been shown to be something akin to warlocks. The blood/Anima golems are so far the only blood related things blood elves using.
This entire sceene would have been a lot better if horde players had been shown that the San’Layn were being included into the horde and that the sanguine soldiers standing around in the blood had been San’Layn, with actual blood elves standing on the side terrain and on the platforms.
Though guess we aren’t allowed to have content that makes a sliver of sense.
