There is an answer on the German forum. It is not bannable, but it is not save either. If somebody scams you, you don’t get your gold back.

The legal way to buy gold. Pretty sure the old exchange rate was like 1g to 1000g or so, but that was when gold was plentiful through mage farming and boosting so you’ll probably be paying a lot more in SOM if you can find anyone. Not even sure what kinda price the wow token is or sells for these days haven’t bought one since like MOP.
