That’s what i though . They should make separate channel for boosting so this garbage doesnt flood trade constantly
Well i would be carefull . Because knowing wow playerbase people will sell boosts there for in game gold in retail
This would mean that Blizzard officially supports boosting.
There is also demand for pvp/pve vendors, Class balance/fix, Make bfa great again , but we dont see that happening
Because Blizz is responsible for one and the “free market” for the other. Think, then post.
This topic would have been locked already if it weren’t for the couple of individuals voicing their displeasure and giving feedback, thank you.
As for the other handful that are just trolling, mass quoting others and trying to discredit everyone who has problems with this without a proper argument, I strongly encourage to report their posts as you would in-game.
You can clearly tell how proud of their forum activity they are by setting it to hidden for public.

Translation: People disagree with me, try to get them banned. Use words like “trolling” and “not using proper argument” although I’m as guilty of that as anyone in this thread, if not more so.

how dare you disagree with him? he’ll false report you next!!!
imagine disagreeing with someone…
Oh you guys are mad now? Good. Imagine how I must feel for you two ruining the discussion. It’s surprising how you manage to play the victim card when this topic is not even about you.
You’ve done nothing but call me deceitful, a liar and dishonest on several occasions. The topic of the conversation can be discussed without throwing dirt on me for absolutely no reason.
Also if you aren’t doing anything wrong, why are you so afraid?
Why not add a new game feature ? Something like an advertising space in capitals or a mercenary market ?
No spam no ban, only RP, freedom and fun !
That would be a good idea actually.

I strongly encourage to report their posts as you would in-game.
You need to check forum rules you saying that is a banable offence inciteing others to report posts that inculde no curseing or anything.
After all you are the one who bought up human trafficking which i find disgusting .

People will obviously not want the public chats overrun with advertisements when those public chats are meant to be the foundation for the server communities
This is how I view public chat. They are a foundation of interaction between players outside guilds. Back in the days e.g. my guild would not recruit players who behaved badly in public channels, and you get to know some personalities though these channels in a positive way. You’d have people asking for help or LFM in general channels(sometimes also trade, but yeah…). The annoyance back then was gold selling, but they got rid of that. Sadly boosting took over shortly after this, and turned out even worse in my opinion(possibly because Blizzard supports it). I saw no other option than leaving the channels about a year ago, and lost even more of the sense of community, because now I only see interaction within my own guild.
I really hope Blizzard will consider giving boosting their own chat channel, and let trade an general be for everything else it once were for. The boosting market is too big for it to be in the same channels as everything else, as it takes control of the channels. Let the boosting channel be enabled by default, but allow as to leave this channel if we wish, so that we can still have trade and general at least, and be able to see other players outside guild chat.

they may as well remove trade chat then, since there’s AH for everything else.
also, boosting wasnt this bad when people could use LFG tool - at least when i came back to wow after 11 year break (last 2 months of legion)
just add LFG tool and separate channel for boosts, remove trade, and keep general for all the banters and all that.
best thing that can be done imo.
Boosting is one of the main diseases of BFA and it became particularly destructive to the value of in game content. Blizzard turns a blind eye because they too are profiting from boosting services by selling WoW tokens. Similar situation to multi-boxing which is obviously wrong but Blizzard allows it because each account pays a subscription.
Sure, why not handle the issue that both the boosters and the advertisers are already inconveniencing everyone else with complete disregard for everything but themselves, by rewarding them even further through making a special platform where they can offer their services?
It’s this way of thinking that already destroyed all sense of achievement and bragging power in the game.
A separate channel for “mercenary services” would be more than enough, it would limit the default Trade to trade goods alone. Supply and demand simply won’t go away if you limit their presence. But you can give them their own regulated space without investing any more resources or work hours into them.
Something that would still be in the gray area, but acceptable for everyone, with no policing on Blizzard’s part. If someone wants to scam people, they’re ruining their own business.

Spamming Dirge?

I explained higher up why I don’t think boosting should be a part of trade chat. Trade chat was alive as a trade chat also when we had the AH. Is it possible that trade chat died for this purpose when gold selling took over, and later got replaced by booosting? Guild recruitment also became a bigger problem at some point, but I can assure you trade was alive as a trade channel for items and services you could use the AH for before. Mats not available on the AH is one thing players would announce as WTB in trade, mage portals, enchanting services and rare items were frequently advertised in trade. That said, the need for mage portals has decreased greatly, and enchants have very limited slots these days. I don’t see any reason why WTB requests have necessarily decreased that much.
I really do not see why you would oppose to /boosting being it’s own channel, enabled by default just like /trade and /general, and possible to disable like all channels today. Just to allow players interested more random trades and chatter, to still have access to channels. Personally, I eventually got so visually stressed by the boosting macro’s that I had to leave everything about these channels. Also the things I wanted and liked by them.
The example I provided above is a good comparison in my opinion. I am a member of a few sales groups on facebook, and most of the ones I am a member or admin of, do not allow house and car sales in the groups. Sure, they are also trades, but they are quite dominant and big sales which already have a sales site elsewhere. I view boosting as the same, agressive sales intended for a good “income”, and destroying pretty much all other trades that cross their path.
You lose nothing if you had your own default channel. Those of of us interested in the other aspects of trades aren’t your target audience anyways, so us leaving the DEFAULT channel called boosting(if it existed) will not cost you a single copper, but it will free us of a major gripe, in my case a bigger gripe than gold selling ever was.
Sure, that could happen, but I didn’t leave the channels until june or junly last year, so it wasn’t bad enough to push me out. Boosting eventually did though.

You’ve done nothing but call me deceitful, a liar and dishonest on several occasions. The topic of the conversation can be discussed without throwing dirt on me for absolutely no reason.

You admitted as much in your opening post when you said you reported people who were doing legitimate activities. The only victim card is coming from you.
I’m not mad btw. Seems you are, those pesky people advertising, how dare they!?
