Boosters now using ingame calendar

Haven’t seen any posts made to put some focus on this annoying practice.

Boost websites adding random people to events which in my case I never gave consent to, so it’s not sure where they even got my name/server from.

Not sure how one goes around to reporting this ingame but I don’t see how making a ticket would amount to any real action so maybe posting in the forums might get something started.

This is also the second time this week I’ve gotten one of these, couldn’t find the first screenshot I made.

Fairly known problem, sadly enough. I can only recommend to remove the screenshot as its more or less (unintended) free advertisment for them and right click to report them in the calendar:

I read Blizzard was developing some things to counter them but no news.

unless u buy boost u self i dont see any boost ting my calendar i dont buy boost

It’s been a thing since there was the ability to do invites in the calendar. Easy enough to get your name and server. They make lists using /who queries in game or pulling names of lvl 70’s from armory for example.

I’ve had a few in the last few weeks which is unusual as i don’t usually get them at all. I long ago learnt that character names containing a funny letter get much less, if hardly any invites and spam whispers. That’s why my name has the ‘á’ instead of ‘a’. It’s a pain to type that á in game.

I never bought any boosts, yet if I leave my character in main hub (Orgrimar or Vald) - I usually get an invitation to hc raid boost group (even on my 445ilvl main, like why would I need a boost on such character?..)

Only thing I can do is to report them.

I never got invitation to such boost raid outside of town, only when sitting in town.

We are all very sad the datamined restrictions didn’t come into the game.

Hmm that’s interesting … I might try that. I thought that was just for filtering out spam from trade chat etc.

I did go through a period of getting very few … and someone else mentioned that it seems to happen more if they’re stood around in a main city for a while - which could explain why I’m getting more now than I did before. Perhaps I should try doing my guild admin somewhere other than the main city.

Also … for those who claim it doesn’t happen unless you’ve previously bought a boost. I have NEVER bought a boost. I once … around 3 or 4 expansions or go … joined a discord group to get a final boss kill for a mount, but I hardly ever even pug. Virtually all my group content is done with my guild.

That is just false information. I think there was another claiming if you were part of communities that you’d get these calendar invites. Also false.

I’ve had invites on freshly dinged chars that haven’t been part of any community and clearly couldn’t have been boosted.

I did look that up, hoping it would help, but its purely based on various chat channels, nothing to do with the calendar. You just must have been lucky so far

I’m not aware of any addon being able to block calendar invites at present. It would be insanely popular in an instant if some clever person made one.

Fake news.

I have never bought a boost and I get these invites too. Usually happens if I am in the capital city or the raid zone. My guess is that these bots just do a /who for players and start spamming their invites.

Never bought a boost in the 10+ years I played WoW.

So yeah, check my profile at least before you start accusing people of buying boosts

This has been happening to me for years. About 3-4 times a month.

I would rather like it if the calendar could only have me added to it if I was either in a guild with or friends of the person.

Let’s hope that restriction comes soon.

In any event, I’m pretty shocked people are buying these things. You don’t need it, it is not worth the money. Play the game - that’s why you’re playing it…

Friggin’ room temperature IQ people.

Was the same for me too

i afk alot in town too, never ever happened to me before buying boost.
this is a theory so dont get me wrong

i got invited like 3 times than i just blocked the guy and since than my calendar is calm

I’ve never bought a boost and I get them a lot. The one I get is always the same - with a link to a real money boosting site, so I report them as such. Occasionally, I add something like “are you ever going to do something about this - it’s costing you token sales” to the end of the report, but nothing seems to be done about it.
