Boosting fix it blizz

So a few days ago i took up a offer i saw in Service chat where someone offered a run trough m+. i payid full price of 120k and the instance started and we had a single wipe, everyone ragequitted and i was without a team. the seller then didnt refund my gold. I ofcourse make a ticket about this and asks blizz for help, where they answear pretty much yeah thats against terms of use so screw you you arent getting your gold back

Against terms of use? you have a bloody Service chat up a chat dedicated to offer services such as running trough instances. and you say it is against terms of use and give me a warning for buying?!. ofcourse i think it is allowed to buy a boost when you have a bloody chat dedicated to these people, and you dont do anything about those who buy a boost. so we can have people pay 2m gold for a mythic raid kill for mount and the person can be instantly dropped and nothing will be done about the players… i Mean come on blizz if it is against the terms of use then Fishing act! permantly ban all the sellers and the accounts bound to them. check out the raids and ban every single person who boosts and the accounts conected to them and turn of the bloody chat so people wont think it isnt against terms of use. this way your players cant screw each other over with the boosts. so please fix this asap or you will see more people drop the game cus they get punnished for taking up on a offer that flashes you right in the face as soon as you go to a main city

They did not tell you its against the terms.

What they did tell you is that if you partake in those services is on your own risk.

Same for trading items by the way.

Like I argued before. If Blizz creates a /services channel then some people will also assume that Blizz takes responsibility for the quality of the service provided…

here you go word for word what they sayid in their response

Regarding your reported incident, we kindly request that you refrain from engaging in similar activities in the future, as they may result in penalties for violating our Code of Conduct.

Btw the service channel can just be called the scam channel, if you really want a boost then do it via discord communities as they have way better terms of service than blizzard ones.

indeed when the chat is around then people automaticly thinks it is a safe thing to join in on. aint like services are ment for people to advertise services they can provide irl like mawing your lawn. so ofc people think it is solely ment for people to sell boosts there

sadly it was the discord version who took my coin without delivering what i asked. they even invited me to the discord channel

which discord?

You should just deal with the fact that Blizzard will do little (if anything) to nothing. It’s not in their interest to do much about people who do this sort of stuff as the operation of boosting brings in more money by keeping the subs from people like you running while also getting extra wow token sales.

You entered an agreement that put your own gold at risk, that is on you. Believing that every booster is going to be acting legitimately was your mistake.

Lets be honest with ourselves, this is a low effort resolution on Blizzards part to remove the boosting spam from the normal trade channel and rid themselves of the complaint of spam. They aren’t interested in fixing the issues that comes with boosting because it is a net positive for their income/sales/sub continuation.

if i used a chat that they added to the game because of their previous boss who actively boosted. then the entire service that is being actively spammed there on them. if they have 0 interest in dealing with it then they will lose players in the future because others like me will use the chat because you get automaticly added to it so the advertisement flashes in your face everytime you enter a city, that is a 100% blizz’s fault

not like i remember the name of it now. they ofcourse threw me out instantly when they saw i wanted a refund or a new run

Boosting has existed before and will continue to exist. Not to mention that there can be different kind of “boosts” like helping your friend out or a guild’s raid team getting your alt to speed in case your switching mains mid-season and etc. Focusing on banning boosts “where gold is involved” and players will just find other ways to transfer gold and etc.

The only way to get rid of boosting is to remove the demand for it in the first place. If there wont be a demand…there wont be a supply.

If they didn’t add services channel then you would have those glaring adverts in /2 trade channel instead. So fundamentally nothing would change.

I know that it’s just a pipe dream that will definitely never happen, but I really wish that Blizzard would stop allowing these people to ruin their game already. I remember once upon a time many years ago when trade chat was slow enough that people could attempt to buy or sell items, and even have off-topic conversations, usually about Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. Then this scourge of lowlifes started selling services and spamming the chat so badly that it was completely unusable. Years later, Blizzard decided to give them their own channel, but I don’t think trade chat ever recovered, it’s still extremely spammy, just with profession links instead of website URLs. I’m assuming these are also some kind of real money trading nonsense, but I have honestly never attempted to use them.

I’m not really blaming you by the way OP, especially since 120k is pennies to these people, or rather, organisations. I have no idea why Blizzard still allows them to still run rampant after all these years, I’m assuming they somehow benefit from it financially, but I honestly have no idea how. I wish they would just permaban all these spammers again and again until they give up, no matter how many people they have to hire to keep up with it all.

no no that wont be the case because blizz have sayid trade isnt allowed to advertise in. so they wouldnt be allowed there. and instead would have to yell to get their advertisement out

Yaaaaaaawwn.

It’s not against the ToS, but it should be.
Or, well, buying gold should be.

Change of policy? I hope so, but I imagine that GM is just wrong.

I get what you’re saying but you’re living in a place where expectation doesn’t equal reality. I guarantee you that less people are leaving because of this then you think. If everyone who hated the boosters (both the scammers and legit ones) left the game the numbers would dramatically drop.

You can leave the chat to remove the spamming, I do that and then put normal trade in a completely different tab which removes 99% of any spam I would see.

Here is a radical idea, If you want to do certain content that is a higher level then do the work needed to get there beforehand rather than throwing gold at it.

I know the difference and this is irrelevant in the context of this thread because friends/guildies helping each other isn’t going to involve an exchange of gold or spamming a chat channel.

Like I’ve already stated in this thread, this won’t be happening because boosting is a net positive to Blizzard’s income. If they suddenly had a drop in revenue that was caused by boosting they would be incentivised to do something to actually improve the boosting situation or even ban/suspend those selling or advertising boosts.

The demand will always be there because people with low attention spans and fomo mentalities exist, find a way to fix this and boosting services will eventually die out or reduce to incredibly small numbers.

This was actually why I never thought they’d make one. But I guess it’s not really any different from trade in that sense. It was always at your own risk. They will ofc action anyone scamming, but there has never been any guarantee of getting your goods/gold back.

I don’t think I will ever trust anyone from a trade channel, service or otherwise.

kinda need players to clear it myself and i gotta flop out money for transfer for that to be aviable who isnt pugs. but yeah already closed the chat. just Wish i didnt automaticly join the chat on every toon. or had a option to opt out of certain chats ounder options so i dont get added to the chat and have to manualy leave on every toon

Absolutely not. Why would they?

Lets change boosting for something else.

You buy a car.

You can (A) go through a dealership with a contract.

OR,

(B) you can buy it off some dude with a handshake and some cash.

Does the government make (B) ilegal? NO.

You have the right to buy whatever you want… but… if there is no contract or anything official left behind (paper trace) if you get scammed your on your own.

There. Welcome to the real world.

it isnt the real world though. it is a world which a big company have control of everything. and yet they look the other way when players gets screwed by other players in a chat that the game developers automaticly makes you join on every toon. no one in the real world pushes you toward your B dude irl you go there yourself and willingly, this chat opens a trust system that isnt real because they actively push every single player onto the shady guys
