There are more bots than players in Zaralek Cavern. Each of us pays a monthly subscription for this game. Despite this, the number of bots is still increasing. I report bots and from time to time I receive a mailbox thanking me that several bots have been banned. But the next day there are even more of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XArdwYZbaQ&ab_channel=Zefir
The video shows the bots flying in an unnatural way. And when they are attacked, they attack the tentacle of the shadow priest or pet hunter instead of the player. These bots are more intelligent than the ones we get in Comp Stomp.
this has been reported and pointed out at least 10 times on the forums and god knows how many in-game reports they recieved. they just don’t care enough about it to do something. ban waves every 3 months don’t solve anything but like i said. it’s not something they care about
Got an ingame mail from blizzard today.
Thanks for making the game better because I had reported bots.
And that action had been taken against them.
must have been while I was down in Azure Span, so full of bots there
The report helps a little…

Greating defender of azeroth
thank you for reporting someone for cheathing in the game.
your recent report led to actions against one or more players and accounts (and much more"“”
Ive reported a single bot, got that mail thanking for the report… and guess what? That bot was still there. Those are just automated to give the impression they did something, which is an absolute fallacy.
They’re in all zones, seen too many of them, Blizzard doesn’t care to deal with them any faster then their ban waves.
I went ages without seeing any mails/messages stating that a bot had been dealt with. At the start of Season of Mastery I thought I would give it a try and ended up with all of the messages for the reports there when I logged in.
Just like Amazon Games with Lost Ark, they don’t want to completely fix the problem when it comes to bots. This is due to shareholders wanting to keep making money and the publisher/developer wants to lie to their shareholders in terms of how many concurrent users they have within their games.
If you look at Lost Ark, it jumps back and forth between 30k to 50k concurrent users, but if you were to go ingame and go to the local spots for bots, you see endless trains of sorcerer and berserker bots farming.
Blizzard like Amazon have the ability to completely remove bots in a heartbeat, but that would take a hit to their revenue and people would then notice a drop in players, thus creating negative forms of media popping all over the place, as people wouldn’t really focus on “hey they’ve actually removed all the bots!”… negative press is far more impacting that positive coverage of a situation.
But like someone said up in this thread, bot accounts generate a nice amount of revenue for Blizzard.
Indeed the ingame mails you get are randomly generated based upon reports that you send in. Most of them time, it’s time to get some essence that something has been done from your report, but not really has.
Botting will forever be a problem in gaming, until game companies reach out to government bodies to ask for laws to be passed to make it illegal by law to cheat or use 3rd party software (it’s what they got botting software) to be used in their products.
As stated though, they won’t do this, as it will negatively impact them in terms of numbers, both “Players” and “Money”.
ban them too often and it stops being profitable for botters to rebuy the whole game + character boosts after losing a farm account which means they’ll stop buying the whole game + character boosts from blizzard
they’re not being punished, they’re being farmed
the issue is these bots are probably spending more money on blizzard then we are with just our subscriptions on an individual level
1 dude running 20 accounts? thats 20*60
and yes they are breaking tos, thats why they’re being banned in waves
but obviously not often enough so they can keep making money off of botting to atleast keep rebuying the game for… well if its 1 dude running 20 bots; 1200 euro’s for blizzard for every banwave
I don’t even think I’ve spent 1200 total on blizzard and I’ve been around since bc
If we were at a point where the game needed bot subs to keep going at the cost of the player experience we’d be in a very bad spot. Keeping the millions of player subs is more important than a few thousand bots.
They are being banned, so no, their subs are not needed.
As it stands currently, Blizzard no longer state how many players they have. They used to do this a long time ago when they did have millions of players because it was a staple of the MMO industry. That “yes our game has all these players it’s amazing. Come and play our game along with all these other millions of people in Azeroth.”
So if I was to give a guess as to what the current player numbers are right now. Active accounts, could be anywhere between half a million to 750K. Out of those active accounts, I would say maybe anywhere between 300,000 to 400,000. Are actively playing. This is going to be spread across all regions.
That means you have roughly, I would say anywhere between 100,000 to 300,000 accounts which are going to be bot accounts spread across the entire region that where was played. I’m just randomly guessing by the way, I do not have these numbers in front of me. I would love to have the real numbers in front of me so I could be more accurate. So do not take all these numbers as gospel. It’s just an example as to the possibility that of what is happening.
So if we were to take these numbers as factual, that means that if they were to ban all the bots in World of Warcraft, they’re losing a massive chunk of revenue per month and throughout the entire year. And just like every other business in this entire world, they do not care about the customer. They do not care about your feelings, they care about how much money you are willing to spend. And the people who care about how much money you spend is not Blizzard, it’s the shareholders, because they’re the people who give Blizzard the money to continue doing what they’re doing.
So, what is your point? Give it up and give the game to the bots? It’s insane how ridiculous some of you are. Bots don’t help the game. They destroy it. That is why they are banned.
Seriously… you want to add ruined economy to empty queues. Once players leave there will be no buyers and no revenue for bots and all those bots will cancel the subs anyways. So, how is that gonna work out? Utterly ridiculous to make such an argument.
The point that I’m trying to make and other people, is that basically if Blizzard were to remove the bots, it negatively impacts them. Because that means they lose revenue, thus meaning that they would have to increase prices to the average user (monthly subs/expansions/store products). This is just how it works in consumerism. If there is not enough people buying said product(s), then those prices goes up to be able to afford the continuous manufacturing of said product(s).
And the thing is, we don’t want bots in the game. That’s what we’re trying to say! We don’t want them in the game because we hate them as much as every other person that exists who plays computer games.
In a perfect world, every single country and individual company that takes part in the use of bot software to sell gold to people, would be permanently banned from every online activity. But unfortunately that’s not the case, because as I’ve mentioned in my previous posts and probably in other threads, businesses don’t care about you! They only care about your wallet. And they care about those bot users wallets as well. The only time companies will actually take proper action against those bots is when it makes them lose money. Just like we saw Blizzard go after Honorbuddy back in the day.
