Bots many of them

If Blizzard did their job properly this thread wouldn’t pop-up so often on the forums. So don’t even try defending them.

Nobody cares what they claim to be doing and why. It doesn’t work. I don’t need a PhD to tell that gathering is absolutely worthless, aka the bots have won.

If ban waves were so damn smart we wouldn’t be having this problem right now, the results speak of themselves

but can understand there are so many bots if they run according to their 6 month principle

The ranks are confusing because we have trust levels and then the levels in our profiles have actual names! I worked this out from the discourse site (which is the software used to run the forums):-

TL0 - New
TL1 - Basic
TL2 - Member
TL3 - Regular

I don’t think there is any difference in the impact that bots have in any version of the game. They all have the same impact, they generate gold and influence the market, often making gathering not worth the effort for players that don’t cheat as they can’t get a decent return on their time invested.

With the legendary that might not actually be the case because the cost of so many basic ingredients across all professions has sky rocketed due to them being ingredients for the axe.

If you aren’t willing to report then there is nothing that can be done. If you think no cheating is ever worth reporting then nothing will ever change.

I know that every boost spam seller I report in newcomer chat will get a ban and come back on a new account. I have no idea how they can stop this practice, it’s mainly only the dodgy third party selling sites that behave like this. I’m not going to stop reporting them.

The boost has little impact on the restarting bots. This is something they do regardless, whether they have to level or just insta boost. You can’t punish the playerbase and remove services because a minority may abuse them.

I don’t know what stronger action they can take. as they are already banning the accounts found doing these activities. The bots are usually banned in waves to catch all the cheaters at once. Some don’t like that, they want direct action as a result of whatever gaggle of bots they’ve reported. Ofc not all ‘bots’ are bots, some are still multiboxers, doing one action per account.

I personally hope that with the help of AI they can detect more of these activities but it’s unrealistic to think any company is going to employ staff to manually monitor all channels or areas of the game. That’s just not possible. A lot of the reports in OW are handled by AI and punishments are given, I believe mostly silences but I’ve not really read up on it, in any great detail.

Kinda baffling pov, its like not reporting crime because even if the perpetrator is punished another will come along and commit the same crime later.

wana make a group to report them together?

I understand some don’t feel it’s their job to police anything, you see this IRL as well. People aren’t under any obligation to report.

I do report, but that’s me.

dont take it too seriously, blizzard im sure are on top of it …/sarcasm

The problem is that reporting does literally nothing. After i report a bot i add them to friends list to see what happens. Right now i have a rather long list of bots from ZC i reported back in may. It’s been like 7 months now, they’re still online, no ban wave or anything.

I do appreciate it can feel like nothing happens. I wish ban waves were more frequent and that they published numbers of bans like they do for Wrath Classic.

They use reports to correlate anomalies between potential bots which they then use in a script to ban all bots that leave those traces, not just the ones that were reported.
The problem is bots also have access to reporting, there’s more than one type of bot in the game at any given time and it costs a lot less effort to slightly change their bot than for blizz to find a new ban method that doesn’t hit innocent players.

It’s ironic that the company who segregates their forum members with the “trust level” (social credit score) system is asking for their help with policing their game.

I suggest to stop reporting anything and force blizz to put in place a permanent solution against botting instead of relying on their customers.

Well BLizzard shut use GMs and see test and do there job u cant fully ban bottin but current state if bot earns itself back.
A Mass ban of it wont work.
Blizzard hire gms Let gaurd a area with bots and JUst make cases a week no longer.
Bots not makin mony and accounts of bots not makin mony means no bots.
Or very very few

this also means less subs so :man_shrugging:

My guess is people measure the problem of botting solely by looking at the economy. If gathering seems worthless, we just assume it’s because of bots rather than poorly designed supply/demand.
I think the main problem has always been a lack of optional items linked to fun which are consumed under certain circumstances. WoW’s economy is not self-balancing, because players will always buy the same amount of flasks, pots and crafted items regardless of their price.

No, it’s measured in the huge amount of bots you meet in the open world. I can easily find at least 20 gathering bots without 5 min from leaving Valdrakken.

there is a group of multiboxers in my realm (all evokers)
they come in my realm kaelthas and uses multiboxing in world pvp (using multiboxing in pvp is against the tos alone)
i talked to them and reported them everyday with ingame report tool
via email
with 10+ tickets in the website
talked to 4 gms.
EVEN WHEN THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE GOLD SELLERS AND THEY SELL SOMETHING LIKE 5 TO 7 MILLION GOLD/
I SHOWED IT TO GMS AND THEY TOLD ME WE DONT HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO START OUR INVESTIGATE :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:

so as my last option i sent few screen shots here on forums and talked about it but 10 minutes after that my post and links got removed

sometimes i think wow is a workplace for bots and gold sellers not us

(( just think about it for a second . a dude with 10 copies of evokers comes and tell you we sell this amount of gold per month and this amount per day and then you show this to gms and they say we dont have enough evidence after 30 days of solid proof of their chat and videos and everything)

Blizzard doesn’t care. Why would they? MBing is a money mill, each account needs its own sub. They ‘banned’ Multi-boxing but as long as those accounts are generating and feeding gold into the system (and thereby giving blizzard a cut of it in the process) they aren’t going to ban them. Its antithetical to profit margins.

Which is all this rotten company cares about these days.

No they didn’t. They banned software/hardware broadcasting:
