Bought 70-boost and locked from doing Timewalking

Locked out for 24-48 hours of doing Timewalking or TWW dungeons.
This needs to change, why do they punish people that give them 70$ for a levelboost?
Make this make sense to me, because this is just stupid when you dont want to quest.

This has already been changed several times to the current duration.

It is not a punishment but the result of combatting illegal behaviour.

Because most CC fraud happens within the first 24-72 hours, it was a very common tactic to buy a boost, farm as much gold then “wash” it and chargeback. Nowadays it is less common but still occurs sometimes.

I dont think punishing everyone for something a small minority of people attempt to do is the right way to go about, certainly there should be better ways to counter frauds that dont involve punishing legit players.

I did not do anything illegal, but yet I am punished that is what annoys me.
I know I could level by questing but I already did the entire campaign + sojourner on my death-knight so I was happily about to go into dungeon-spam with TW until I discovered this.

I hope Blizzard can figure out a better way than this, because capital punishment is wrong.

Capital punishment is where they execute you, I’m not sure this is quite that bad.

They should do better for sure, especially at that price. The small print says:

I know cos boss Ion is a lawyer he’ll say "ready to play doesn’t mean we’ll let you… so yea, they need to do better.

# WHAT'S INCLUDED

When the boost is applied, your character receives a new set of gear appropriate to your level, four 30-slot bags, and a 26-slot reagent bag. The gear the character was originally wearing - and everything in the character’s inventory - is sent to the in-game mailbox.

All boosted characters receive the Pristine Survival Kit containing basic food, potions, and a small amount of gold. In addition, *some* classes will receive the Adventurer's Footlocker which contains off-spec weapons.

## SKILLS AND PROFESSIONS

Your character will also receive the Artisan Riding skill and the ability to fly in all flight-enabled zones, except those gated behind an achievement (such as Pathfinder). If you didn't have any flying mounts, you'll receive a basic one.

Professions are **not** boosted.

## CONTENT UNLOCK

**Your character will be ready to play WoW content: quests, dungeons, and raids.**

You can rag on Ion all you want about it, but that doesn´t make it true.

Ion doesn’t work at my company, and yet we have the exact same policy, chars or rather accounts that were boosted are locked out from high end /endgame content for 48h to discourage fraud.

The reality is that this directive was 100% more likely handed down by accounting in cooperation with the risk team, because chargebacks from stolen CCs cost the company real money, and the more individual transactions get charged back as a result of repeated purchases, the more it costs.

And the resulting inflation of the economy from letting them do it anyway and transfer the gold to a “mule” account before the chargeback also helps nobody but the scammers, because that gold hen gets transferred out again, and spent on teh AH to other scammers auctions as well as legit players auctions to more easily cover their tracks. And the end result is that everyone pays the price with unnecessary gold inflation, which then in turn incentivises the RMT transactions such as purchasing gold that the same scammers /botters /mafioso make the lions share of their income with.

And also the next part in that support article:

Emphasis mines, see bolded parts before “LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS”.

Incomplete quests are automatically abandoned, and all quest items destroyed. To restart any of the abandoned quests, visit the relevant quest giver.

The following Dragonflight content is included in the boost:

Content from previous expansions must be unlocked through normal play:

  • Shadowlands - Visit Highlord Bolvar Fordragon in your faction capital to start the questline to enter the Shadowlands and unlock Covenants.
  • Battle for Azeroth - Start the War Campaign by talking to the Hero’s Herald in Stormwind or Warchief’s Herald in Orgrimmar
  • Legion - Visit Dalaran to start the quest to unlock your Class Order Hall and to obtain your artifact weapon.
  • Warlords of Draenor - Visit the Dark Portal to start the quest to unlock your garrison.

Boosted characters cannot enter dungeons and raids from previous expansions for the first 24 hours.

This would be great if it was a disclaimer in the in-game shop before you buy.

But it isnt so you will likely get many more angry threads about this.

Has been mentioned twice in the shop with the same link to the boost article for more details. Once below the buy button, once at the bottom at “Product Requirements”.

It says not available to “time running characters” what is that?

That is not the same as “New boosts cannot run timerunning”.

My point was mainly about the poor communication / wording. You shouldn’t need to be a lawyer to unpick this. Out of curiosity, is your companies worded the same or better?

You skipped over the big bolded part that that already addresses the concern of timewalking:

Boosted characters cannot enter dungeons and raids from previous expansions for the first 24 hours.

Edit: If you or anyone has concerns about the support article you may also include feedback by scrolling down the page and submit feedback about it if you think it is confusing.

The disclamer in the support article that´s also referenced as “certain restrictions may apply” in the store? Or the what is included section you posted?

If it´s teh former, Yes, we also say “certain restrictions may apply” and directly link to a support post, because posting all of the inclusions and restrictions would merely explode the listing to the point where nobody reads anything anymore.

“Better” is subjective, but ours is effectively just as clear on what is and isn´t included as Blizzard´s is. There is no significant room for misinterpretation in either, unless teh customer simply does not make the effort to fully read the listing and /or click the disclaimer link. :beers:

Easy solution. If a player used a boost to lvl 70 then another character on their account has to put a verification item in warband bank that get taken by the boosted character to unlock everything.
For example some bought raid item or whatever currency would be used.

Fraud players doesnt have mains i think because too much work before they can do bad things.

I am talking about the in-game shop where most of these transactions likely take place.
While mentioned when hovering over the button with the mouse, you do not get a disclaimer before you get to the payment page, I think that would have been a better place to put additional information about “restrictions” etc that are in place against credit card-fraud people.

Thats a support article.

It’s not standard practice to read all the support articles on the item you are buying. If its’ not on the T’s and C’s from the sales page then its not good enough. You’re not even saying “its in the small print” you’re basically saying “its somewhere else on the internet”.

Let them come. You are striking me as an angry teen that can’t understand the real world issues of fraud. You talk as if "scamming’ you out of 24/48 hrs of certain content is more important than real world scams.

By the time you finish having your little tantrum your blackout will be over and you’ll forget about it like a kid with a new toy he can’t open for a day

This is literally how the entire law system works.

Better is not subjective in cases of clear advertisment.

It’s a private company. You don’t get to decide what is wrong. Unsub like the rest of the whiners and move on
