Really happy with the changes announced as I imagine most people are. Now there’s still some things that I would personally like to see for fresh that I honestly believe is more important than the changes already made.
Loot drop rates
I would love to see bosses in raids drop 1-2 (depending on the boss) more items to offset the short lifespan of these servers. It’s already a long journey to get the gear you want in vanilla, I’m sure everyone has some sort of experience in never getting certain items from raids for various reasons. Increasing the amount of loot drops would make the rare items drop more frequently too.
Now I’m not saying make it so everyone can get everything, this isn’t retail where gear doesn’t matter. I’m just saying that with how short these servers will last, letting people gear up faster to accommodate this pace would be a good change in my opinion.
Another small thing I’d love see as well is if we will see dungeon drops changed like it is in later phases. HoJ from Emperor, more drops from certain bosses like Rivendare. Not a huge deal, but a welcome change if it is implemented.
And please constructive feedback, no crying about “I want my 2005 vanilla boho”. It ain’t happening, most people don’t want a #nochanges anymore. Just go play era or keep telling blizzard you want fresh era servers. I’m sure if enough people ask they will do it. They have 20+ dead era servers anyways, it’s not like they couldn’t just close some of them and make them into fresh era servers instead. Both versions can co-exist if they see enough reason (aka money) to make it happen.

I agree, we could definitely use increased raid drop rates for both bosses and trash. As the phases move quickly raids will become progressively under-geared, likely causing issues for Naxx progression for all but the most hardcore guilds.
#nochanges is mostly dead. There are a few adherents its true, but i’ve played on Era for the last 2 years and people were loving it when we had Might of Stormwind leaked from SoD, and crying in despair when it was taken away again. We all love our Chronobooms and eat them like candy. It’s standard practice to boon and unboon strategically during raids, even though this is “cheating” compared to “true vanilla”. And lets not even talk about spell batching.
So I hope Bliz continues to look at feedback and think about careful improvements. The GDKP ban is an absolute win. Our PvE server self-banned GDKP long ago, and guess what? Even though we’re so small ppl call us “dead” all the time, we have ~10 guilds clearing all 4 40-man raids on a weekly basis. Guilds are real communities that build lasting friendships (and rivalries, dramas, etc). We don’t just log in for loot and money to buy more loot, we log in to play with friends, repeat content with good memories. Era has been more like “true vanilla” for me than 2019 classic, even though we have far more “changes”.
The “classic feeling” comes from community and interaction, not from a few minor game mechanics. If you want to look at what changes really undermined the MMORPG into more of a MOBA with cities as lobbies, look at:
Dungeon/Raid Finder with Auto-Queue, GDKP/Bought clears, personal loot, trivial/unthreatening open world, homogenized gear with rapid obsolescence, Mythic+ system that actively rewards gatekeeping, and a massive emphasis on solo content.
