i just hope the developers of this class to be completely replaced with people who are more in touch with how tanks work.
high downtime on basic defensives and high overhealing on brewmaster is why once again brewmaster is the lowest of the low in terms of survivability. there are currently 5 times more vengeance demon hunters as well as protection paladins than there is any other tank class, mainly in 20-25 keys which is the most vital part of the game.
5:5:1 ratio, where the number 1 represents the tank success rate in conjunction to tank specialization popularity of all tank specializations other than vdh and protpal combined…
Season 1:
2-Set - Monk Brewmaster Class Set 2pc - Hitting an enemy with Tiger Palm or Spinning Crane Kick grants Brewmaster’s Rhythm, increasing damage dealt and reducing damage taken by 1% for 10 sec, stacking up to 4 times.
4-Set - Monk Brewmaster Class Set 4pc - For each stack of Brewmaster’s Rhythm, Purifying Brew clears 3% more of your damage delayed with stagger.
Season 2:
2-Set - Monk Brewmaster 10.1 Class Set 2pc - Blackout Kick damage increased by 20%. You have a 10% chance to not reset your Elusive Brawler stacks on a successful dodge.
4-Set - Monk Brewmaster 10.1 Class Set 4pc - Rising Sun Kick grants a stack of Elusive Brawler. When you dodge, damage and critical strike chance of your next Blackout Kick or Rising Sun Kick is increased by 5%, stacking up to 5 times.
Season 3:
2pc - Breath of Fire deals 40% bonus damage as Shadowflame and causes you to heal for 50% of your Fire damage dealt.
4pc - Your attacks against targets afflicted by Breath of Fire have a chance to deal 15% extra damage as Shadowflame, and each Celestial Brew also grants a Stagger absorb for 100% of the Shadowflame damage you have dealt, causing damage delayed by Stagger to instead be prevented.
Shadowlands S3 was the pinnacle of Brewmaster. I loved it so much it was the first time I did Keystonemaster within the first two weeks and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I tried it in DF but it was just bad. In addition the talent rework also made things wors.
Compare a Blood DK with his 5 buttons to press with Brewmaster who has 20+ it is insane.
SL S3 set was a crutch… they have been moving away from brew being a “smooth dmg intake” tank more and more every expansion, in bfa we were good even without all the self healing they’ve added over the last 2 expansions, it feel more like we’re playing a blood dk right now.
That’s mainly for a group utility reason. Prot has a lot of party utils, as well as DH has sigyls and can basically turn a pack into training dummies for 20-30 sec. BM survivability is just fine. We (and Warriors) just don’t have enough party utils to compete against other tanks rn
Yes and No.
We can survive Meleehits just fine, thats true, but on higher Keys, esp. Fortified, we reach Stagger Cap and just get whooped by non-staggered Hits.
Also every magical Tankbuster, happening more often then we have Celestial Brew, will kill us, best example is Deois in DotI: Rise.
The current Meta Tanks (Paladin and VDH) on the other Hand dont have these issues because their surviveability is so high, both have a Build-In Cheat Death and they swim in defensive CDs.
Even with more Utility no one would take a Brew over VDH/Prot Pala.
Monk’s Utility isn’t even bad (Ring of Peace is pure Gold in Sanguine and Spiteful Weeks, he can Dispell Afflicted and can help with Entagngling/Incoporeal), but the lack of gathering up Casters (esp. in S3) is whatt hurts the most.
Right now im playing Prot Pal, Brew, VDH and Blood and its a shame how easy and unkillable Paladins (even in 24s) are, as well as how rediclus broken VDHs Silence Sigil is in almost every Dungeon. Not even talking about the double Silence Sigil at this point.
In my opinion S2 is the best one for all content, S3 is very aoe dependent wich makes it less powerful in tyranical and raid bosses, and S1 is just garbage 3% is not that noticeble compared to a flat out chance to completely dodge attacks. But hey I guess I wont play Brewmaster if S1 garbage set bonus takes the win…
