I agree with you when it comes to HRing a single item as a reward for organization. That seems absolutely fair to me.
However, I do agree also with OP when it comes to “BoEs, Idols, Books, two trinkets and a random something HR!!!”. This is far beyond reward for organization.
We know that beforehand, why joining this group?
As players we have a choice.
Vast majority of the other groups are the same. You either accept the terms or get left behind. As you say, the choice is ours.
Can be said for GDKP too though - if you join a GDKP raid you know the terms. Either you accept them, or you go to a raid with different loot rules that suit you better.
There is nothing inherently wrong with GDKP as a loot system, and the argument that it leads to RMT can be flipped around as well - banning GDKP leads to RMT since players don’t want to solo farm for hours to get their gold from bot infested nodes. Buying items off an auction house filled with bot-farmed items is also a way of interacting with illicit gold, just as getting cuts off of blatantly obvious gold buyers in a GDKP is.
There is a reason why the difference in price for consumes on GDKP and non-GDKP servers is so little. In a world where the gold buyers only flocked around realms where GDKP was allowed, the difference would be much, much, much higher.
Bottom line, I am not happy that Blizzard restricts the community’s way of distributing loot, as long as it is within the ToS.
That is true.
That is also true.
and for that there is no proper proof, no one have yet proven that there is any more RMT with or without GDKP, there might be a few more people who buy gold but the amount of gold bought by each of those players will be a lot lower than what people bought to buy gear through GDKPs.
But the AH is a built in part of the game and GDKPs are not. Otherwise there would be a UI for GDKPs that you dont need a addon to get.
That reason is easily seen, its the 7.5x amount of logs being uploaded, so the population differences is huge, and if you have runs where people are in mostly AQ or Naxx gear you dont really need consumes for anything other than Naxx (and a few protection pots in AQ), the market on Era is way smaller than it is on Anny so why they cant charge the same prices for stuff.
They for sure would, but only if the servers were equal in other regards.
So you have no problem with Blizzard removing GDKP then? Seeing as they did change the ToS to reflect that its not allowed on Anny servers. The ToS can be changed when ever and how ever Blizzard wants to do it.
First of all, thanks for a polite and reasonable breakdown of my arguments, I appreciate a real discussion!
I want to comment your last paragraph here:
Fact is, they did not change the ToS at all. Doing some research I found that there is no longer any specific ToS for WoW at all, apart from the EULA regarding all Blizzard games. The ban on GDKP is, in fact, only announced here on the forums. Regardless of this discussion, I find that rather curious, seeing as the rules against GDKP is actually not something players have explicitly agreed to follow when making an account. But I digress.
I know people disagree about the GDKP ban, and a healthy discussion is welcome. You have some good points in your breakdown of my arguments, and I appreciate that we have these forums to voice our opinions!
You are right about that, cant find a proper document ether for that. And the EULA dosnt mention it ether tbh. But in reality no one would have read the full documents anyways and they arent legaly binding in the EU anyways.
Thanks for the correction about it not being in a ToS or even the EULA.
Nope, Blizzard has the receipts.
What you don’t mention is the fact that back in 2019, a lot of players were actually playing the game. This has changed since SoD and Anniversary, we have less players but much more accounts boosting their first char from Level 1.
If you don’t play the game, you cannot afford anything.
They need much more gold for boosting their chars, to equip them and get consumables.
We all know where this has lead to.
We don’t have more bots on Hardcore realms because Dungeons have ID.
Hardcore players love playing WoW, over and over again.
In contrast to normal realms they are not boosted casuals and the demand for gold is lower.
Similar to 2019 because on HC you are actually playing the game.
You don’t play anniversary lol
Doesn’t matter, classic anniversary is over and tbc is going to be doa. Unbanning gdkp unlikely to save it.
They still won’t even try because classic management are stubborn morrons and will rather let the game die than acknowledge their mistakes (see sod)
And yeah SR/HR pugs are god awful experience, I regret I have spent any time playing anniversary (loot council cliques aka guilds are even worse, I had enough of it during original classic)
You must bid on upgrades.
All blizz needs to do is permaban gold buyers from first offense.
After that anyone’s preferred loot distribution doesn’t matter.
i loled. Yes ofc. Thats the only reason why he opened that thread.
no. only if you have high parses and carry the raid. gdkp consists of 3 types. The gold buyers, the pumpers and the gold seller (raid leader)
Anniversary is absolutely booming and TBC will too.
SoD died Because There’s no more content or updates.
Loot council cliques aka guilds : I lolled at that. Yes, those evil groups of players who play the game won’t let me play with them…boohoo. Learn how to make friends, pal.
HT/SR are the worst thing possible. After SR doesn’t drop, people immediately go offline. At the end of raids, 10-20% of people are offline. Now this is compensated by the ease of raids, but in TBK, it would be simply terrible. GDKP is the best loot distribution system in PUGs.
I am not sure what raids you attend - it is very rare I see anyone leave raid, and those who do, immediately gets blacklisted and won’t join that raid again.
Maybe this is only because I usually go with the same pug group every time, and therefore knows most of the people in the raid.
Easy, the imaginary evil HR/SR raids GDKP folk attend in their heads.
Edit: added “evil” for clarification
The only place I have ever seen this happen, ever, was in UBRS full run pugs, where some hunters/rogues would just leave if the first boss didn’t drop their prebis shoulder. The few who did are still on my blacklist.
And it wasn’t even SR, just a group loot run with maybe one HR on a rend blade sometimes.
