Except it’s already shown up. That’s why we know it starts at 5 million. Meaning those who got it during BfA got it at it’s cheapest.
Also, if you count a mount that 95% of the playerbase will never be able to afford as ‘content’ then you have a very flimsy grasp on what gameplay content is.
Just like the spider before it, the longboi is designed to be a gold dump to try and remove excess gold from the economy. The spider was twice the gold cap during WoD meaning those who bought it day one had at least 2 characters at gold cap.
But it’s not too expensive clearly since so many bought it. Sure 5M is a lot of gold but honestly you had 2 years of BFA and almost 1 year of knowing that it would go away to farm it. I had a friend of mine who farmed it in 4 months up to prepatch starting from 280k gold so there’s literally no excuses to not getting it if you really wanted it.
I agree that there was time to farm Bruto before the bad health situation - I was on the right track to get the mount a few months ago, but unfortunately then I had real life problems because of this global bad health situation.
Last month I got most of the things normalized and I am working from home. That is why I now have the time again to grind for the Brutosaur.
We dont know when the Shadowlands prepatch content will start (as it already should have before the delay), it could take a month or 2, 3 months, so now is the ideal time to grind the Bruto for the dedicated players.
Also BMAH is complete Rng and even if its more expensive it doesnt count really because it might not even show up.
The same reason why Shadowlands is delayed is the same reason I was not able to farm the Brutosaur mount in the last 6 months, and that is why the mount availability should be extended like the Mythic mounts, Azerite essences, etc.
How do hardcore realm firsts titles or extreemely low drop rate mounts compare with a mount that ended up being a commonplace sight by the end of BFA?
There is a huge difference between exclusive rewards that help highlight extraordinary achievements like realm firsts, top 0.5% PvP ranks etc and mobile game style event periods where something is being widely available for a time frame then it is not (while still remaining a commonplace sight cause it used to be widely available).
The former creates people to admire for being great in a way. The later just causes frustration due to inconsistent scarcity.
PS: Yes I have a Brutosaur.
Edit: Yeah I mean nobody is anything special in the eyes of anyone else for having CM mogs, Mage tower mogs, mythic helya sets, Rank 4 essences, Visions title, Brutosaur, etc. They were just in the right place at the right time to get them. It is absurd for forum dwellers to engage in such gatekeeping behavior when others want them back.
Woops quoted Bjornson, wanted to reply normally. Sorry
There was enough information that it would be removed and when.
If that didnt spark any urgency to get it, why do people care now?
Thats the weird part.
And no, i dont have a brutosaur.
Even though i am a collector, i just couldnt justify the insane pricetag, even tho i made more than enough gold this expansion to buy 2 probably.
Well, just like in my case with MoP mogs (/cry), the information about the removal might had not reached those taking a big break from the game, for example skipping Beta For Azeroth.
The Bruto has its value as a mobile auction house even for those who are not collectors.
I am glad I was well informed enough that I could start my Brutosaur funding effort as soon as last winter.
I had been wanting an easily accessible AH terminal for almost as long as I have been playing WoW (prepatch 2.0)
I can say with confidence that the Brutosaur is so far the most gameplay-affecting item that ended up becoming grandfathered. It is way more than missing on a cosmetic item. At least to those who find that valuable.
EDIT: Before anyone tries to compare collectors items in the real life with ingame collectibles, lets remember that the collectibles IRL do not bind at our souls and can change owners at an agreed price.
I do have a Victorinox Pioneer Damascus 2010 Limited Edition Knife and its value only grows with time because it can change owners, if it could not be resold it would be worthless to others.
why should they add it back when its in the game right now? Its in the BMAH. If you wanted it then you would have had it in the first place. Goldcap is not even far off of those 5million so you can still farm for it… where is the issue? Just get goldcap and wait until it appears?
I just cant agree with you on that part.
If you didnt play the expansion and you started playing again now in order to prepare for Shadowlands, what does that change?
Yeah they missed the opportunity to play during the expansion and to earn enough gold to buy a brutosaur for 5 million gold.
If they farm up to 9.2 million gold now, and it appears on the BMAH they will win the auction. (Since bidding is set at 10% increments of the price, and at 9.2 mill you capped since gold cap or max price is still 10 million)
They could still get it effectively, and so can i.
But if they didnt play the expansion and now are certainly interested, thats too bad.
They didnt play and didnt get it when it was 100% for sale on the vendor.
And i dont see how not playing an expansion is suddenly a reason to get another chance at buying something that was time limited.
And thats why people ask for other time limited rewards, they also didnt put effort in those limited rewards or items, and would like to have them.
well its weird they are putting it off the vendor but its not gone so … I had the chance of buying it but instead wasted millions for T3 lol and that seems to be harder to get now too so glad I done that since I could just farm goldcap and wait for the dino.
Some people might think it will be insta bid on arrival to goldcap but even that zulian tiger 13 months ago on argentdawn bmah took like 12 hours for someone to goldcap it.
there is your chances its just a mount… with an AH… whatever
And while at it, change INK vendor from Umbral Ink back to bfa ink… till proper launch patch.
I have several stacks of 200 and was VERY disappointed that as soon as prepatch hit, the ink trader switched to UNOBTAINABLE (till SL launch) inks while the BFA one became vendor trash.
You cannot make an effort for something that you do not know that it exists. This is what it changes. Just like if I had somehow learned about the MoP sets in time, I would had stormed to get at least 2 of them. But at the time I had disconected myself from WoW thinking that all would be there when I come back like it was the case for almost everything before MoP
I do not know much about the BMAH (and what will happen if the gold cap is reached) cause I never managed to get something from there. But I hate it cause I relate it to bad limited items. I already made my case about what a good and a bad limited item/goodie is in the post that you accidentally quoted earlier.
For the sake of TL:DR I will repeat that a good limited item is a reward for something extraordinary like a realm first.
A bad limited item is a reward that comes from an activity that is not really a big deal cause a lot of people can obtain it by spending enough time while it is available. This is also a predatory sub/time sink bait.
But this seems like a flawed argument at best.
Because it translates to the following:
I had no interest in the game, and the consequence of that choice is missing out on expansion related rewards or content.
Is removing the brutosaur a good thing? No.
Is it a proper limited time item? No.
But the issue i have with the request in general is:
Its now removed so now i am interested.
I didnt spend time playing BFA but i want stuff from it even tho it is removed.
And for many other “proper” time limited rewards people feel the same.
I would love certain gladiator mounts because after the fact, they look amazing with some classes and transmog (just an example)
But i didnt put in the effort and that is now stopping me from using said looks or whatever.
I do agree removing the brutosaur from the vendor is not really a good move, but bringing it back now after people went out of there way the lasts months to make sure to get it might be a huge slap in their face.
It was well known it woulf be removed, and you had a heads up of over a year to get one.
I dont get this:
I am not interested till it gets removed attitude.
If you are so “impressed” by the feature the brutosaur offered, why couldnt people be bothered to get it while they could in a reliable way?
Good question, perhaps they were not well informed enough. There was no precedent of expensive mounts with vendors being removed.
I think the Bruto removal was datamined in like november which less than a year unless I am wrong.
Because I have been burned before, I tend to try to stay informed about such things, others were not.
I wonder how many people managed to legitimately get all that 5 million within that time frame without any top ups with Wow token gold
Thats still 10 months, which is plenty of time if you are so happy with the feature it brings.
For people making the gold, and how to make that amount that depends per player and ofc their interest in making gold.
I never had any issues making money ingame and i think over the whole of BFA i made around 10-12 million gold.
Which wasnt spent on the brutosaur due to reasons and i got myself some transmog / proffession sorted out / gametime etc.
Overall, i could have easily paid for a brutosaur without ever using tokens.
Overall i do believe the current idea of:
We want it now after its removed is a becoming a bad one. And it should really stop in my eyes.
Maybe, my problem is with the idea of “lets remove things to pressure people more”
“we want it now after its removed” is an side effect of the former being allowed to happen
