This has happened to me in the past and on my Augmentation recently, it’s pretty straightforward, you win, your MMR booms, you lose, your MMR will gradually scale down to your level.
Are you trolling
Or do you not understand what I’m saying
No, I am not.
People still don’t get how MMR works ever since the introduction of Solo Shuffle’s Season 1 Dragonflight. And it is happening once again in Battleground Blitz.
I’ll try to say it differently, to explain why the matchmaker isn’t working properly
If you win, MMV goes up.
If you lose, MMV goes down.
Thats how it works, right ?
In the case above :
You win, MMV goes down
You lose, MMV goes up
MMV is not behaving correctly, it looks bugged.
There are variables also involved in the time that it is being played, it doesn’t necessarily refers to your personal MMR since it is averaging the entire team as a whole, in my case I’ve had games where I won a match and MMR has gone down. One example I’ve come across before they did the updates/rework for Blitz , I decided to log on and play a Blitz in the morning being roughly 2.1-2.2 rating and to my surprise I was placed in a lobby where the MMR was 1.8 instead of 2.2 or higher, this is a result of not enough players of your level has been found, so the matchmaker has paired me a team and opponent of that MMR instead simply because they were the only ones available.
I can’t tell or know when you’re even playing games, but as it stands for now, ever since this update, I can only play devastation at night, if i’m lucky, early evenings, but I cannot play earlier than that simply because the matchmaker isn’t finding anyone of my same level.
MMR has an effect on the time of the day, and how many people of your level is online, and also of course, you have the odd-placements players.
Does this make sense to you now?
Yes please, Blizzard. The game mode will die with that long Queues.
That has nothing to do with queue times.
I would be fine with them simply reverting the matchmaking changes from two weeks ago or weakening them down. Allow players from a wider rating range to be put into the same lobby and allow more of the same spec in one team, like up to 3.
Isnt this what ppl literally complained about being massively unfair when they faced X amount of a spec and they had none etc?
They complained a lot about MW fcs in CTF maps for instance when they had none and their opponents had 1 or 2, but that has been nerfed.
Apart from that, which spec is really problematic in large numbers? DKs maybe. They are annoying in CTF and rogues in general. But really, I prefer to wait 5 minutes and get a round that is slightly less balanced to waiting 15 minutes for a round that is hardly more balanced.
The thing is, if you face against lets say 2-3rogues or even ferals and you have 0 stealthers you should have a very low chance of winning unless people are griefing in the current state of the game. Obviously talking about capture the base maps.
You can compare alot of different scenarios with that part.
So, what you kinda asked for, is to go back to what ppl complained about from the start.
In general, alot of ppl will never be happy. Im the kind of person that rather wait abit longer even for slightly more balanced gameplay.
But if blizz wants to go back to the old state that other ppl were complaining about then they can go ahead and do that I guess.
I mean, before the patch I had one round where our team was almost exclusively rogues (5 rogues in one team) and we got kotmogu. Rogues are a good class on most maps but on this map you could see it as a disadvantage because orbs need to be picked in order to win but rogues usually don’t pick. One of them wanted to give up from the start but we played and won by a wide margin because the rogues all understood that they need to pick.
With Blitz you will just never achieve true fairness when it comes to teams. One team will always have an advantage from the start because of their specs. I don’t feel like the matchmaking change has really improved the quality of the matches, it just increased the queue times.
Ofc you can never achieve true fairness. I hardly doubt they tried to even achieve that.
Its about reducing the unfairness that were happening.
I mean, in kotmogu you pick up the orb if you can. Doesnt fully matter which spec you are if you are the closest person considering its solo rbgs. Might not be the best for healers to do it, but if noone else want to…
Hold the orb = win.
Dont grab the orb = loose.
Rogues can’t use stealth and most of their toolkit with the orb. We had to pick to win and there was nobody but the rogues to do it. Luckily they all played well and did play the objective. We were still at a disadvantage caused by comp.
The success has been minimal while the side effects are very annoying. Everyone has to wait way longer to get into a game.
So they cant use evasion? Cant they use cloak of shadows? Forgot if they can or not.
Which was bound to happen sooner or later. Same thing happend with solo shuffle. Im amazed ppl are surprised there would be times with longer queues.
I mean, if we are going to do what alot of ppl seems to want, they should also remove duo que while they are at it.
Yes they can. Not being able to start a fight from stealth is a pretty significant disadvantage though.
It didn’t need to happen and didn’t occur naturally. It is a result of the matchmaking system being changed, which wasn’t a particularly smart change imo. At least not in the way it was implemented.
The opinions are pretty split on this topic. I personally prefer expanding it to everyone including 2 dps because playing with your friends is fun and shouldn’t be a healer privilege.
While holding the flag/orb you are not supposed to start the fight though. The rogues can even use smoke bombs to defend it.
Im not saying they are the best to hold the flag. But they are not terrible.
People will complain that they end up in a lower MMR blitz than they are. (which ppl literally spammed about mind you.)
People will complain that the queue is too long.
People will complain about their comp vs opponents.
People will say its a loss before the gates even open usually for dumb reasons.
People will always have something to complain about.
And I am of the opinion that it should just be solo even when I understand why they made it duo with a healer.
If they are going to make some form of change based on it, they should just remove duo option entirely. So if people want to play with friends, they can go play RBGs or unrated bgs.
“NO, we don’t want people to play with their friends in unrated bgs. Unrated bgs should be solo only because I feel bullied when I lose to a group of friends.”
Have you read complaints like these on the forums? I certainly have.
You are right, people will always complain.
And premade RBGs? Inaccessible, deflated, super dead, most RBGers have moved on to Blitz and if you somehow manage to get a group going you still run into boosters somehow.
Many players who like to play with friends often don’t have 10 of them with the right roles online at the same time.
With blitz you can just invite one friend and enjoy a competitive round of bgs together.
Ive read all forms of excuses and complains from pretty much all sides at this point
Its pretty easy to understand the complains based on unrated bgs though since its the only real “chill” place to play PvP.
And you do have quite a high chance of winning if you are 5 man party vs 10 randoms. But that is something blizz could have easily fixed if they wanted to.
And we both already know eachothers stance on sync premades.
I just hope the wording they did for the latest BG changes is actually what I hope for and not just a forced merc to your party leaders faction. Havent read too much into what it entails (if they have said it).
I mean sure, but then you can also say:
“Should I be punished for not having friends?” while duos gets usually higher chance of winning based on it ^^
I dont believe duos, if correctly done, is a bad thing though. But I personally dont need to believe it should exist =p
Why not “chill” with your friends in casual? Bringing a buddy with you doesn’t make it any less chill or casual.
%-based handicap the larger the group is. A nice and elegant solution.
It very well might be this. I think they would have used different wording if they meant you can now randomly be sorted into team red or blue in casual.
Fair enough, that’s your opinion then.
I just wanted to outline the version of blitz that I would prefer.
Shorter queues at the expense of a bit of balance and duo queue for everyone, not just healers is what I would consider ideal.
