Bring back random name generator

Seriously, i’ve been trying to create some alts ready to level in the prepatch and i can barely find a name. I try every name i used in the past on other games, taken, fantasy name generators, all taken, scifi name generators, all taken.

Every name under the sun that isnt generated by blizzard to be available is taken. Please bring back the random name generator, i dont want to spend 40 minutes trying desperately to comb the internet for a name generator that makes an available name for my alts.

The PTR has one, try there.

Thats nice, but the PTR doesnt have as many characters as live, and if it isnt on live it doesnt matter. A name free on the PTR is 90% taken on live.

The generator doesn’t filter out already used names so you’d have that issue anyway.

I don’t think we have ever had one on EU. US has it, and beta and ptr has it (because they are on US servers). I wonder why we don’t have one in EU though, lot of other games do.

I think it’s due to so many languages in Europe, it could easily generate rude/offensive words.

I was also thinking that but then again other games are running random name generators in their games in EU succesfully. Perhaps they are just more careful than others.

What am i to do then? I play on English serves, if something is offensive they can make a word filter, the people who program this game aren’t morons.

As of right now i physically cant make a character, because EVERY SINGLE NAME IS TAKEN, EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Even Quanqelizorhaa, Pexmedelol and Asxhurdiu ?! :astonished:

Try the unicorn one. Not many people seem to use those and they fit the male bloodelves perfectly.

No one appears to have used Pornetache. Might be a good one to use if you are rolling a character with facial hair.

Second d is silent on that one.

Going by your suggestion and your character’s name… You seem to be full of great ideas!

thats gotta be Nzoth operative undercover

Pick two or three syllables and put them together. Pangut, Solme, Lagmonat.

Picking a name is not difficult or use xxarthasxx.

You could use accents á é í ó ú ä ë ï ö ü.

@Dreamkore: While some people likely find my style of naming boring, it is extremely rare that I need to try multiple times to find available names. In fact, quite a few of my characters have unique or almost unique names.

Of course, Silvermoon being so big, it DOES have 100 000s of taken names, but I am sure there are still free ones. One method, which can produce names I find nice is using anagrams of existing words.

One of my rogues is called Remdur (murder).

Several of my trolls have names that begin with Tr, gnomes have Gn, Go, Ge, several hunters have names that start with Hu or hr.

If one knows how I often name my characters, it is also not that difficult to guess that Umro and Unewa are undead, Sharria and Oshana shaman, Neprionus a night elf priest or that Grimtrella and Grimona are based on Grim Batol, etc.

As I do not know what sort of name you are looking for, it is a bit difficult to give advice, but you COULD try something less common created from or inspired by say… Latin, which most people do not use.

Would something along the lines of any of the following work?

Clavisar
Parapam
Vencidi
Dexera
Xervum
Nifiri
Ronamus
Holovidum
Quanta
Accelador

Step 1: Pick something, anything. Furniture, a feeling, bodily function, disease, whatever.

Step 2: Make a name out of it. For this exercise I’ll have already tried the name Farts, which is unfortunately always taken. You seem to be an elf player, because as we all know elf players only play elves, and players who don’t play elves don’t play elves. Elf names are usually very long and annoying. How do you elf Farts, you may ask? Farthlythria, for instance, evokes a very flatulent female elf vibe, while also annoying me immensely. Male elves could f.ex go with Malfartion.
If you were to go with something other than farts, like let’s say a lamp, Illampia would be the perfect name. If your roleplay backstory is you’re a sad elf, Depresthia, because Depressia would be too obvious and elf names kinda need to have th whenever possible.

Hope that helped! I will also give you one more name for free that you can use if Blizzard ever allows ’ in character names, as they should because way too many NPC names are like that. Kael’Farts. All yours, I don’t play elf.

But we did. I remember it. It was removed later on.

Usually if you have a name in mind you have to modify it until you can get a variation that works.

For example if I really wanted Dreamkore and you obviously already have it I’d have to get more creative and do things like Dreamkhore, Dreamkora, Dreamkorhe, Dreemkore etc.
