Bring back the unobtainable toys!

Some opening words (feel free to skip to the third paragraph):

While being a collector/completionist in WoW has always been possible to some extent, in recent years, systems have been put into the game to make them a core part of the gameplay experience. Along with this, it is my strong belief that pets and toys should be brought back into the game to compliment this change. There is no gladiator pet, there is no Scarab Lord toy. There is no prestige in these removed collectibles, and it will not diminish other people’s efforts by putting them back into the game. Blizzard has already added items back here and there in the past, and the most recent I can think of is when they added back the 5.3 Barrens toys in the Legion prepatch. That was truly great. Thank you for that.

No MMO I’ve played adds and removes items so freely and seemingly carelessly as I’ve seen in World of Warcraft. While there are certain mounts, such as Gladiator mounts or the Scarab Lord mount, which makes sense to keep exclusive, it is my (and MANY others) belief that the pet/toy philosophy should be the same as the achievement philosophy. With achievements, all players have access to the maximum pool of achievement points at all times. This makes you have a shot at the top, no matter when you started playing the game (albeit harder).

On the topic of toys, and to get to the main point of this post, I wanna address these 3 toys:

-Mini Mana Bomb (Horde reward: MoP pre-patch)
-Gnomeregan Pride (Alliance reward: Cataclysm pre-patch)
-Darkspear Pride (Horde reward: Cataclysm pre-patch)

When it comes to toys, only 5 are truly unobtainable, and the ā€œTome of Town Portalā€ and ā€œTwelve-String Guitarā€ are fairly recent, so I understand it’s not the most pressing, as most should have it (but they should really be added at some point as well). That leaves these three. Bringing these three toys back into the game, would make the collector-community extremely happy, and has no downside. This is purely positive for collectors, and has no negative ripple effect for the other player types.

The number 1 reason I believe these toys should be reintroduced, is because they were made unobtainable before the toy box was even introduced, thus turning them into toys.

If you agree with this, please consider helping me share this post, so Blizzard can see it! One of the ways you can help, is to submit a suggestion through the ā€œhelpā€ section in the in-game menu. I have done so myself.

No it’s time to grow up.

I was a completist back in Wrath/Cata; I spent literally days worth of time getting those whelps.

When battle pets came I just stopped. They were just reskins, very few unique ones.

Strange thing about this toy, is the ally tabard that came with the achievement for them is account wide, (not moggable as horde but available even if you didnt get it ally side) yet the toy isn’t?

I got both sides done, yet the toy is just gone. Its not on the vendor zidormi in dustwallow neither.

It should be available to you. Write a ticket

The OP didn’t play back then I guess.

Completely agree with the post. I’d love to have a way to get those toys, since I’m very near completing my collection, but I didn’t play back in Catactlysm.

Wow is a nightmare for completionists. There isn’t one single type of collection that can be completed yet the game has so much focus around collecting things. It makes no sense really.

It’s best to just make peace with the knowledge you will never be able to fully achieve anything with regards to collections in this game. I’ve considered leaving the game behind a few times because of this very reason. I don’t raid or dungeon much, collecting is pretty much all I have content wise.

I agree that you have to make peace with the fact that you won’t fully complete collections, but Toys are a very new thing (released in 6.2) and there’s very few that are truly unobtainable. We should try to get the devs to notice this, and fight for them to add new sources to unobtainable toys, and to avoid limited time toys.

I did this event back in the day but sadly I had long deleted the characters I did it on and this was before toys existed. So mine is lost forever.

Were they very low level? Blizzard never deleted the characters even before the restore service.

Sadly I don’t even know what realm I was on at the time. And they were all low chars. :frowning:

I have gone through every server and hit undelete but there is nothing there.

Sad to hear that :frowning: To me, this is another, very strong reason to bring these toys back. They existed before they were even turned into toys. If I played during MoP, I would’ve probably deleted them too.

I also destroyed the toy that turns you into a big ape in a ball. Again long before toys existed but I ran out of bank space.

I’ve never had it again but theoretically at least that one is still obtainable.

When the toys concept was first introduced I did ticket to see if they could restor the things I’d destroyed or lost but they couldn’t. I was sad.

Hey guys! I’ve updated the bottom of the post to encourage submitting in-game suggestions through the ā€œhelpā€ section in-game to implement this change. I also added another strong reason why they should reintroduce these toys.

I’ve got the guitar, didn’t even know it was rare, but seeing as I’ve unsubbed I’m passed caring, best of luck anyways.

Hey, i have those ā€˜ā€˜Darkspear/Gnomeregan Pride’’ Toys and i dont even collect them
They’re just a 30 minute buff though, wish it was longer

Still here posting on the forums

Make a gnome!.

Yup, why not?, I haven’t had the old heave-ho yet.

I did the same thing before the toy box was created.
A few days ago I opened a ticket about it (after reading this post) & a GM restored it to my account for me.
It’s worth giving it a shot, as long as you have completed the quest at the right time.
They can’t give you things you never had to start with.

I did the same thing when the toy box was put in the game and was told by a GM there was nothing they could do about any of the items I’d destroyed :open_mouth:
