You do know it’s based on chance don’t you and can be resisted some mobs can see though it and is working correctly. You can’t always outsmart the enemy in pvp so I’ll give you a example. If I was a tauren warrior and saw you in pvp friening death I look at your pet see its still alive and attack you and if you was on low health then you’d be in the graveyard. It’s called experience players can tell some can’t but all those from vanilla will see through the skill. And now going to tell you it’s working as intended, won’t be fixed.

I don’t think you’ve understood the post. We understand that you can be attacked but what should happen in PvP for example is feign drops combat and for that small moment of dropped combat it should allow you to place a trap, as you need to be out of combat to do so. This is currently not working

If your in the fd animation you can’t drop traps it’s always been like that in vanilla. So working as intended. Now do you understand.
Can you please please type in what the skill says it does please to clarify to others on this skill. Thank you.
No, maybe not all of classic but many times you very much could do this.
The tool tip for Feign Death reads
‘Feign death which may trick enemies into ignoring you. Lasts up to 6 min.’
It’s the ‘may’ bit that gives me the impression it’s not a 100% certain.

There is a small chance for it to fail increasing with level divide, three levels ahead it has nearly a 40% chance to fail and the chance for it to be resisted caps out at like 75% or something crazy with a high enough level divide. Which is why the word “may” is used.
Feign Death is bugged and need to be fixed, any Hunter who played hunter know that this is bug.We always could trap in combat and now its impossible. (Its not resist) because resist is resist and not drop combat is bug.

Didn’t I see this thread already today?
You need to control your pet to get out of combat. If your pet is attacking the target while you Feign Death, the chances of escaping combat are extremely slim. You need to recall your pet from attacking the target, then Feign Death, and you escape combat for a short period of time, but long enough to give you time to quickly lay a trap. This is how it worked in vanilla as well.
That said, I do feel like there are some inconsistencies in its use compared to how I remember it working. Even when recalling pet I sometimes don’t leave combat, or only leave combat for a fraction of a second.
The way I recall it working is that if you recall your pet and use Feign Death, you drop out of combat for as long until either you or your pet attack something, or someone attacks you and your pet.
Also, on those commenting on the ‘may’ part and that it isn’t supposed to work all the time; that is both true and false. When Feign Death fails, you get a big red ‘RESISTED’ on your screen. In that case, it has indeed failed and you should remain in combat. But if you don’t see that ‘RESISTED’ pop up, it means the Feign Death was successful (or was supposed to be successful), and should drop you out of combat. Feign Death was an extremely reliable way to get out of combat back in vanilla, and was very rarely resisted. And it kept you in combat (if you managed your pet right) ONLY when it was resisted (unless there was constant AOE hitting you).

I will point out that if your pet is taking any aggro during the time you use this the aggro that you lose will go right into your pet and you’ll still be considered in combat. Pretty sure that’s how it works.
If not, whatever.
Idk, hunters have it really easy while leveling. The fact that you cant use your trap during combat really doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. Like seriously, is the bug that you cant use your trap whilst in the heat of combat ? Or could it be that this is actually an interaction with feign death that was fixed?
Not really sure. However reporting bugs in-game, not inside of the general discussion forums, would probably yield better results.

You must be kidding talking about this not being a big deal! This totally destroys hunter as a pvp option!

So a class isn’t good at pvp and it’s the end of the world? if you wanna be a pvp god just play rogue or max level a warrior. 0_o hunters are played because they can easily solo content, not because they’re such a great pvp option.
With a little bit of research this was a suggested macro for this interaction to occur more often
#showtooltip Freezing Trap
/cleartarget
/petpassive
/cast [combat] Feign Death
/cast Freezing Trap
/petpassive
not sure if it works, don’t really care i’m not playing a hunter at the moment lmao. I just thought I’d share this since everyone’s knickers are thoroughly bunched by this.
Yes, it is. And it’s not supposed to.
No bug here, working as intended
a) Feign Death can be resisted in PvE (aka. the monsters you are running away from may not fall for your theatrical skills every time)
b) Feign Death usually doesn’t fool players, and it doesn’t, on its own, take your pet ooc so you need to makro it to go ooc and trap, and even then it won’t work every time (e.g. a dot may be ticking before you can set the trap)
Jesus, are you even reading? It’s NOT being resisted and even if you’re dotted as hell it should still take you out of combat even if for half a second.
This ability is NOT working as intended. Even when it does work the delay is too long for the ability to have any practical uses.

Ignorant or troll. You’re all afraid of hunters, even with so much buggs they are hard to beat, basically rogues have no chances at all.

Warrior charges you, you feign death, you have to wait 2-3 seconds for a chance to leave combat, he realises the trick after 1 second, he re targets you, you now remain in combat and can not lay any traps.
The point is feign death is not dropping aggro instantly giving us no chance to lay a trap, it takes a few seconds(if it works) before we can place a trap, which makes macros useless and hunters useless in pvp situations
