Bug: Gnomish Mind Control Cap effects ends when teleporting

Gnomish Mind Control Cap effects ends on taking a mage portal, teleporting or using hearthstone - not like vanilla. :frowning:

One should be able to mind-control anothers and bring them along to other places!

I understand breaking the game in expansions, but I’m not here for the expansions.

There are still at least 8 combat-related bugs and not being able to click/tab targets through objects which people WILL notice once battlegrounds are enabled. I will stop playing again and you will reply ā€œI told you that you don’t want vanilla.ā€

I told you that you do…

Joking aside, what you’re describing is definite edge-case stuff, and Classic was always going to have anomalous behaviour, particularly during the aforementioned edge-cases.

Best suggestion is to write a formal bug report for Blizz for each of the bugs you’re referring to with details on the expected vs actual outcome. Plus some evidence of the old way of behaving where possible.

The differences between WoW then and now are in the thousands of details. If you’re going to keep such changes from after vanilla, you’re not even trying.

Also, I have reported lots in-game, but noone seems to even read them. Most of the issues take 5 minutes to fix. Like this one… on the server, someone added the code to break this type of effects when the controller finishes casting a teleport type effect (probably also when accepting a summon). Deleting that function call (hack/nerf) is not hard or time-consuming.

I understand that some people complained about it and that’s why it got changed, but that IS the difference between vanilla and other versions. They can go play Cataclysm or BFA. I am paying for the vanilla experience.

so in vanilla you could mind control players and take them into your capital city with a portal etc?

no

Yes. This doesn’t work like a priest’s mind control. They become your pet for 20 seconds. I don’t know about other methods of teleportation, but there are comments that confirm that it was possible to use a mage portal with such a ā€œpetā€.

Got any proof ? Because ive never seen or heard of this

Not to mention how absurdly abusive this would be. If this is the sort of thing that makes one stop playing the game (certainly top of the list to open the thread with it), I’m not sure it’s right game for them.

The only proof I have found is in a comment from 2008/05/11 (Patch 2.4.1) - it worked at least up until then… oh and also 2009/12/11 (Patch 3.2.2).

Don’t forget that it is because of opinions like this one that the game got changed into what it is today.

I also have all sorts of ā€œgame improvement suggestionsā€ but I keep those to myself, right?

Besides, I want to help people, like getting them to my hearthstone inn (if possible). Perhaps you are on a PvP realm - I’m not. This is an example of arguing that doesn’t belong in a bug report. Either you at least try to make it the way it was or you don’t.

Taking those people’s word for it, it could’ve perfectly been a transitory bug, like when you could Shadowstep across continents or into graveyards if they died while teleporting behind them.

Just because someone did something it doesn’t mean it was always possible before then.

Imagine MCing Saurfang and bringing him to SW. Holy hell that would be hilarious.

Clearly developers need to test that on their 1.12 client. Could be fun feature.
