My resolution is stuck on 4k when playing classic wow and yes it eats alot of GPU around 50%, my resolution of desktop is fine 1920x1080, there is also no way to change it back from 4k to 1080p in the wow settings. Does anyone else has this problem and is there a solution for this? I also tryed changing the commands in the config WTF file and did not help.
It’s not a bug. You just need to adjust the rendering scale to 1920x1080.
#nochange lmao
I changed the render scale to 1920x1080 but the window size = 3840x2160? and it is grey and locked and no way to change it to 1920x1080. Classic wow is running at around 50-60% gpu because of this.
I have the same setup as you and it runs fine. It registers as full hd.
so ur window size is also 3840x2160? and does ur gpu also runs at 50-60%? it feels weird that it runs at 50-60% , my GPU is an gtx 1050 ti btw.
Yes. I have a 27" 144HZ full hd monitor. I don’t know about the GPU usage, but the game is running above 60FPS on maximum details (with MSAA off). My video card is weaker than yours btw. It’s a laptop GTX 1050.
You should probably check your nvidia settings to see if there isn’t any virtual scaling going on.
I’m not at my pc, but it’s a setting that’s most likely set to “x4” right now.
Edit: I THINK it’s the DSR Factor, not sure, coule you check?
Should be above the prerendered frame setting somewhere.
Yes I turned that off in nvidia panel, my only question here is if it is normal that my gpu takes now 45-50% of power while playing classic, because wow bfa only takes Cpu power instead of Gpu. so wow BFA runs at 50% cpu , and 4% gpu… and wow classic runs at 30% cpu and 45-50% Gpu, I just find this strange.
Isn’t 4k 4096 lines and 1080, well, 1080 lines, 1920 is about 2k.
Your BfA is set up incorrectly.
This I would have to check myself.
It also very much depends on what you’re doing.
Let’s say you log on bfa, stand around in your hub and check the stats, you won’t be stressing the system.
But log on classic, enter OG, stranglethorn or any other crowded zone, i bet it’s going to be stressed a bit.
BFA still uses sharding and has a lot less players per zone that are visible to you compared to classic.
Since they’ re both running on similar API’s (classic is using legion API) , i would say the most crowded will see more load.
Edit: i also think bfa introduced a new way the cpu handles the threading compared to older versions of wow, hence the difference.
