I don’t see the appeal of neighbourhoods at all so you’re not alone.
We know too little about how private neighbourhoods will work. Will they also have 50 slots? I think the article worded it as «smaller neighbourhoods» when talking about the private ones. Also maybe they will require some sort of «charter» like making guilds do? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how they will be.
Indeed and these are all good questions IMO. Stuff Blizz can respond to/clarify as they wish to release more info.
I built and entire village in Conan Exiles just for me, so i can see myself kitting out an entire neighbourhood for myself if i can
For me it depends a bit on the context. In BDO I enjoyed how housing was naturally integrated into cities and towns and such, and that could be called a neighbourhood. I liked the organic aspect there. In FF14 I didn’t like it tho, I dislike these weird pockets in the world that are specifically designed to plop down a bunch of houses.
But I’ll have to see how it feels once we get more information and visuals. And it may feel fine if I can make a fun little spot for my tiny guild.
True, a lot of basic furniture can be pulled from the already existing items used to fill up cities and towns (And even some dungeons or raids), i always figured making a system that allows free placement of those items by players, that works within the WoW engine (20 years old engine, with piles of stuff tacked onto it over the years) would be the bottle-neck in this whole situation.
I want my own creative control, not be subjectedt to the whims of others, also I think my champion would like some solitude and somewhere to retreat to.
But each to their own ofc.
I just wish they’d give us the choice.
Solo would open up so many more location too IMO.
Yep that thought crossed my mind as well. I think it’d have been easier in that case. But I’m guessing they were worried about a repeat of the complaints about garrisons, and how they made the world feel empty. I’m not sure this will prove differently after some time tho, I hope they’ll include a good system for moving your house and such.
Problem for me is how is it better that you have a load of abandoned homes over time.
Yeah, exactly what I’m saying.
I agree with public neighborhoods - great concept. Plenty of players like to socialize and intreact - cool, we’ll have public option that will fit many players and will enjoy it. But, many will not and many people won’t be even using this feature because of this.
Private neigborhoods - good fit for guilds or group of friends. Again, cool option if you are in a guild or have friends you’re playing game on regular basis. But if you’re not, well - you’re destined to spent your housing time in public neighbourhood.
Why for the loving god no ‘personal/solo option’ ? I’m not gonna call it neighborhood. Many people would strongly prefer to have this feature as personal option with no need to be stuffed in some instanced zone with others.
If I have to be in a neighborhood with 49 other draenei/nelf body type 2 characters dancing on the street in their underwear, I will just not use this feature then until they introduce personal housing. No, thank you! I want to keep my housing private and as immerse and fantasy oriented as I wish with no disruption from other players.
Also, personal housing or solo option would open many more options zone-wise I think as those would be easier to develope and maintain imo.
Another issue I see - I would go for public option and even though on the beginning it would be full of other players, by some time it could end empty with 49 standing houses. Well, I prefer to be in solitude but I want to look only at my house in my personal space.
Nice concept art, but that’s all I like about this feature right now.
My worry with setting up a private ‘neighbourhood’ on my own is having umpteen empty plots around me.
Friends come and go from the game all the time and even those that have expressed interest in having the same faction land base (for now) may want to do things with others instead.
I personally want complete control over my home area. People are never all agreed on how things should be. Also the plots seem to fall into three categories. So what when all the ‘beach’ locations are taken and someone can’t get where they want to be, either has to compromise with durotar looking or Ashara looking. That’s no fun either.
The lag of fifty plots is also highly undesirable. We’ve all seen how the big BGs go or even some mythic raid bosses lag everyone out.
I am excited for playing housing but I want my own personal customisable space and a nice outdoor area.
With the current systems forum neighbourhood wouldnt be as big as one thinks as some are same peoples alts, it would be like having player housing partyes for self and all their classic clones and the rest alternative personalities they rp forum from behind hidden characters
No Eversong Woods, no housing for me. Elves are popular enough and different enough to warrant their own zone. I don’t want no human zone and certainly don’t want no ugly orcish zone. I’ve had enough with garrisons.
That’s a personal preference?
I would like to have a house in Uldum or Tanaris or somewhere on zuldazar island.
Some people would like to see Hyjal or Wetlands.
You know, they chose the zone based on faction, not which one is the prettiest, because opinions may vary.
Taking into account how many people said they would’ve preferred Eversong Woods,I am not in the wrong here.
I know it’s down to personal preference.
But,even so, I maintain my position…there are many zones that are way better and yes"prettier" than the ones chosen for the horde.
It would be cool if they made this feature somehow of a material raw farming. Either it be gardening or something like that, maybe some quests that reward materials or to do anything, I don’t have an idea what it could do. I just feel like economy and raw material farming is the worse since korthia s2 SL patch, where we farm 1 spot in whole expansion, it’s dumb and illogical and boring. Vanilla seemed to have boundless farming opportunities in each zone, while retail is bland in every way. I wish they could re-design economy and farming, and use this opportunity of housing to bring new features for those that want to prepare for mythic+ / raid or even BGs.
Considering the biggest criticism of Garrisons was Humans vs Orcs they haven’t learnt.
Can’t wait to open up a trailerpark in wow. Specially next to all the Pve Whales with their incoming Shopskins
Can’t wait for all the housing stuff in the future to be in the shop.
