Exactly what I thought, and its not like they didnt have plenty of feedback or time to adjust accordingly. I hope they will add some other themes aswell than these in the article on arts.
See that’s another no no for me, a neighbourhood that is a complete mish mash of architecture. It’s going to be such a mess. If multiple building styles are available.
Let us just have solo plots and then a selection of various race themed buildings.
Would be better have it single somewhere agree. I want my fishing shack by the sea and I want pandaria landscapes
I mean, since the announcement of Housing, the people are always saying "Please, just don’t make it only Stormwind (Human) or Orgrimmar (Orc) architecture. And BAM! They did exactly this.
If this should be a feature to express yourself in many ways, let us express ourselves in many ways.
If a taruen want to have their heritage culture somewhere in Barrens, just let us allow do have plots there.
If a Kul Tiran wants to have some wooden/forest/elven Culture in Bel’ameth, just allow it.
I know this might be a thing in the future, but at least for starter I was expecting more choices. Like a choice according your race at least in starting zones for example. Just for the start and then expand it all over Azeroth and of course beyond. Cause I bet, some people would like to settle somewhere in Nagrand in Outland, especially when they are playing orcs.
It all sounds as huge exciting announcement but from I have read on the forums, people are not really happy with this.
I want my Worgen to have simple house somewhere in Gilnean Hills, my Kul Tiran somewhere in Drustvar, I want my Blood elf reside in Eversong Woods in a structure similar to Fairbreeze Village.
People are asking for variety.
Having their own architecture by choice and be able to pick if the housing will be in a neighborhood or placed in solo plot without distraction.
Like people saying, they haven’t learnt much from Garrisons.
So if i turn up with a few bottles of cider tnat forum rules have decreed a no-no (hint, its contains a derogatory term for physically disabled people and a slamg term for male parts) and Souly rocks up with the Buckie- are we welcome
Judging by the comments it’s another community feedback backfiring. When will they learn and stop listening this irrational community with unrealistic expectations.
Well, we don’t know that. Because we don’t know how they would go about it then.
We’d pretty much arrive at what they mentioned in the piece: They want to do a few zones really well and not multiple zones passable. So I don’t know if there would be ‘many more locations’ honestly. They don’t want to just give you a boring plot of land somewhere; they want to make it special.
That was always going to happen with housing no matter what they announced. Because many people want many different things; often directly opposing things.
Experience in other games, says otherwise.
But they are currently hellbent on forced social interaction.
I loved my instanced housing in a location of my choosing in RIFT for example.
Wildstar you had like your own little planet.
Oh yeah, I don’t like any of that either.
I’m just saying; Blizzard being Blizzard; they don’t ‘just want to give us a plot’, they want to give us a plot with bells and whistles on, so to speak. And that takes more effort.
I’m not getting that impression but at this point there isn’t much to go on and I think they are still heavily in developing and exploring options at present.
The whole forced neighbourghood is the removal of any bells and whistles for me. It’s got to be better lag wise for it to be solo instances as well.
It will be strange to picture all the different themes of horde in 50 plots neighbourhood with the undead forsaken and tauren and orcs and goblin and belf and so on. I dont know how any roleplayers example find that suitable for them but Im already finding hard time finding what I want from a building on inland somewhere that has other buildings nearby.
Them saying:
its systems are designed at a fundamental level to encourage interacting, playing, and progressing with friends, neighbors, guilds, and the wider community in a meaningful way.
With particularly ‘progressing’ sounding like there’s going to be more to it than ‘just building and decorating’.
Furthermore, Housing is being designed to scale with the player’s interest. If someone wants to spend dozens of hours a week on their house, that’s great! If they’re only interested in coming and going once or twice a month, that’s great, too!
Scaling? This also points to their being more to it.
We’d much rather do a great job with a small number of zones than do a passable job on a large number (or come up with solutions that take the player out of the world into their own personal instance of a zone)
I’m not sure what they mean with the part in parentheses.
letting players live next to each other, work together, and share in the rewards of being part of the Neighborhood.
Share in the rewards?
So with all those things, it does give me the impression that ‘the space where our houses will be’ is not ‘just going to be a space’. But there will be more to it.
I could be wrong though. We’ll see.
For RPers they are probably going to largely stick with private neighbourhoods and really make that place immersive. At least… That’s what I would do if I were into RPing in WoW.
Like most systems we work our way through it, I don’t really see this as any great mystery. It’s just standard and doesn’t need to be in a neighbourhood. My progression is of no consquence to anyone else.
I don’t see any scaling in that. It literally says you can pick up and put it down as much as you like. There is no scaling. So if you are in a dead neighbourhood with a bunch of houses where people have stopped playing or just aren’t interested. Then yeah fun.
They don’t want to give lots of locations because they want to force players to be together in a more limited selection. Now I would like a personal me only instance no neighbourhood plot. Just me. My haven. But like everything else I’ve written so far it’s just repeats but the topic is quite big so easy to miss earlier comments.
That part I addressed several times. I don’t want to be at the whims of 49 other people. It’s not creative it’s hell, you always have to compromise and people have very different ideas.
So for me it’s the complete opposite of bells and whistles. It’s taking away my creative choices. It’s lumping me in a large community with a bunch of people or risking doing it alone and then not being able to fulfill things or sitting in the middle of a bunch of empty plots.
And I understand that. So would I.
I just feel that a personal me only neighbourhood is also acceptable.
I 100% agree and feel the same.
But that seems to be what they want to do. That was my point: I wasn’t agreeing with them; I was making it clear what their intentions seem to be.
So in their minds that disqualifies what you (and I too) would rather like to see.
I think if we don’t give feedback then there is no chance there will ever be anything else.
I just want choice. Let those people who want neighbourhoods, have them.
Let those of us who want to be alone in solitude, have it.
Well, we can seemingly have that in a private neighbourhood. That’s something at least.
And more locations will come. Maybe, hopefully, smaller ones too.
No, you are happy with a neighbourhood solo.
I am not. For all the reasons I’ve highlighted.
I am not happy. I was ready to write an angry rage post when I started reading that article. It wasn’t until I got to the part where it said that I could have a ‘private neighbourhood’ with a guild, that I was somewhat reassured that I wasn’t going to be forced to live alongside a bunch of strangers.
I’m willing to give them the benefit of a doubt.
Just to be clear.
However you want to phrase it, you are happy with the proposal.
I am not.
Stop telling me how I feel.
Thanks.
Sometimes you are an impossible person to talk to.
