You dam right lol when i first came here in wod, i wanted to be a rp since i like table top games. man the grief i got for doing everything wrong. gave up in the end and just freestyle rp.
Grief can also be mistaken criticism. I’d bare that in mind.
same thing, i got tons of criticism. I’m just not a lore nerd of Warcraft. so what can one do? i ended up making my own guild with people that can´t rp well and we just do random stuff. was fun, but sometimes you get those people that want your full attention when you trying to give other people something to do x.x
have you ever had that experience? some want to spend hours with you while you trying to play with others.
If the criticism you faced had to do with your language skills (as you mentioned grammar), then I can only say I’m sorry you had to deal with that. Perfect English is by no means a requirement to RP, and anyone that gives you flak for that (especially when a lot, possibly even the majority of players on the realm aren’t native speakers) shouldn’t be taken seriously.
There are quite a few addons floating around that auto-correct/fix your spelling if you’re really keen on that stuff, but I think you just interacted with the wrong crowd.

You can simply read up or watch videos similar to everyone else before you.
All though it may be good sentiment, I don’t agree with this and I think that’s the worst course of action, as you’re putting your own issues on others aswell as dragging them down simply because you don’t want to read lore. Which can affect their experience regardless of your own intentions.
Making a guild is generally a commitment, and you have to dedicate a lot of time to your community.
Anyhow to summarise, I’ve never once used the word elitist since the day I’ve joined this server, maybe that’s hyperbole but my point is - that you should give yourself the ambition to become better and ultimately outcompete others.
