I personally think this is the best news in years from the gaming industry, it’s a jaunt leap forward for bungie and really hope Blizzard can do the same.
The game will fundamentally change if they do and most likely we’d see more polished and finished product on expac releases ect.
Yes I saw that too, I hope Blizz follows to leave aswell, I think people and companies are starting to see the devestation Acti leaves behind and how it damages companies.
Or correction, people have seen it for a long time now, but, that it have manifested great enough that theres no trust left and thus, leaving.
Yep, not gonna blame any company for wanting to make a living and more, but they are cutting to much, they are removing the passion out of it aswell and only think of fast cash, not quality, Destiny was a wreck and surely left a bad reputation on the franchise, so I hope with Bungie leaving Acti they can regain some good reputation about Destiny. And hopefully Blizz will bring back good old WoW with quality. Yes I do really like BfA, but I believe it still could be so much better with Blizzard own passion in it too.
Blizzard doesn’t really exist as a separate entity anymore sadly. They’re like a siamese twin at this point, bungie and activisions relationship was just a publishing deal so they could leave.
Blizzard is a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard.
Activision is a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard.
Bungie is not a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard.
Activision Blizzard is a holding company.
Blizzard is a game developer & publisher.
Activision is a publisher.
Bungie is a game developer (and soon to be publisher).
Bungie had a contract with Activision to act as their publisher.
Bungie has ended the contract with Activision, choosing to self-publish.
Bungie has no direct relationship with Activision Blizzard. They only had a contract with Activision.
Blizzard are a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard. But Blizzard does not have any direct relationship with Activision, because Blizzard publishes their own games.
Just to clear some of the confusion.
People seem to mix a lot of things up.
All of Activision Blizzard’s subsidiaries are independently operated. That includes Blizzard, which maintains its own autonomy.
Again, Activision are a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, and they are a publisher.
And Activision Blizzard itself is a holding company. It is the parent company for the various subsidiaries within it.
Yes Blizzard should leave Activision, Activision are all about money, spending as little as possible whilst reaping as much as possible for minimal effort. If the could change that attitude then Blizzard can stay with Activision.
No idea what that means pal, sorry. I’m just trying to say there has got to be some sort of influence there or they’d not be part of each other. Cash flow maybe? Sponsor?
I’m no expert but activision are bad name for themselves and need to rethink the way they publish things.
Blizzard does not have any shares of its own. They are traded under Activision Blizzard (ATVI) which is the parent company.
Similarily, if you want to buy shares in Google, then you have to buy shares in Alphabet Inc., which is the parent company of Google.
If Blizzard were to be “bought out”, then the ownership of the company would simply trade hands. There would not be any shares involved. Activision Blizzard would simply sell off one of their assets.
Ok, what exactly is the role of Activision with Blizzard? Do they not tell the Blizz guys we need to cut costs and pump out more content that nobody wants to play?
People are tired. of the same old lazy garbage. every 2nd expansion is good because that’s part of their strategy, to save money on intermittent expansions. People seriously. only want those Activision leeches gone Game of Thrones style. And they are leeches. since every other company they’ve “merged” with turned to a meme. Dont try to argue this, theyre bad for business. Something needs to be done to kickstart Blizzard into a driven, motivated & successful company again. Being entirely independent would give them their balls back. Because right now theyre only chasing market trends, theyre not a leader in the market
Can’t they slowly buy themselves out then rather then paying up all at once? dunno how big Actis share is, but maybe Blizz can pay themselves out at least 10% every year, hopefully more, if they make a mount called “Buy us out” everyone would buy it to help them pay their way out of Acti lol.
But the less share Acti has, the less they have to say? or how does it work?
I’m going to call the child company protective services, the quartering dropped an interesting piece on content release, perhaps we can see content faster as it doesn’t have to go throughout the company first and perhaps we might see longer development times in trade of higher quality content across all games, i’d even open my wallet widely for it… but i can only dream…
Activision Blizzard is the parent company. Their direct influence on Blizzard Entertainment is the financial funding of the company which allows it to operate as a game developer and publisher.
Think of Activision Blizzard as the mother, and Blizzard Entertainment as the kid, and the mother gives the kid a weekly allowance so the kid can buy candy and toys and whatever else it feels like.
Activision Blizzard does the same. Each year they divide the money they’ve earned between the different subsidiaries, who then spend those money to make new games, which hopefully go on to earn money as well.
