I previously wrote a thread regarding Bungie leaving Activision. saying it was one of the best bits of news in a while and that blizzard should also cut ties.
a few comments on there are how activision as a company have nothing to do with Blizzard and have no influence at all over them.
well, this is wrong, as you all may know Activision Blizzard are under investigation and could be in serious trouble.
Activision Blizzard Is Under Investigation For Securities Fraud On Behalf Of Investors
what does this now mean for Blizzard as a company? I mean we all know Acti as a company have a HUGE impact on Blizzard and have done more so in recent years. I would not be surprised if Classic WoW was now delayed if not completely cancelled.
yes this is a news link, is it true? no one knows but we all know as consumers the company have not been doing great and if you read it, it all seams to make complete sense.
I think in your previous thread someone tried pointing out that Activision blizzard, Activision and blizzard are three (count em) different companies. Itâs difficult when people refuse to acknowledge that fact.
Havenât read your news but will go have a gander now and do further research (simply because we do live in the years if fake news and my journalistic training requires me to verify every thing 690 times first not because I doubt you) before commenting on that.
If thatâs you level of expectation, arenât you a little bit surprised that everything still seems to be going just fine?
I mean, despite all the Diablo Immortal controversy, the disappointing Q3 results, the falling stock prices, the exodus of CEOs and CFOs, and a general PR storm on social mediaâŚisnât it a bit surprising to you that weâre all still able to play WoW and all the other games as per usual?
Like, if we werenât reading all the crap from the doomsayers, one might be inclined to say that from a playerâs perspective, then nothing has really changed.
I am a bit dubious about the whole thing given that the only information I can find on this âinvestigationâ is on gaming related websites with nothing being reported on any business sites. Given the size of ActiBlizz these sorts of things usually make their way into the mainstream media exceptionally quickly.
However if we take what is out there at face value a number of these websites also site that this particular type of investigation is quite common and rarely leads to a lawsuit. They also note that the lawfirm in question has an awful lot of active investigations ongoing.
CCN are the only ones whoâve explained what the law suit actually is about.
Activision Blizzard announced its split from Destiny creators Bungie on January 10. Immediately following the announcement Activision shares plummeted nearly 10%. Investors are concerned over the loss of revenue from the popular title, with Activision confirming it would receive no revenue from the game in 2019.
So really itâs a ânothing to see hereâ just usual business stuff thing.
Considering most of the forum is full of REEEEE all Activision Blizzard care about is their shareholders. This is about their shareholders. xD
I have to echo Osangar, I canât find anything outside of gamer sites really. Thereâs some repeats about it wheb searching for Activision blizzard stock news but as I donât know what is considered trustworthy sources as far as he stock market news goes outside of main stream media I could have missed something there.
Also did you see that blizzard are currently recruiting quest designers for an unannounced Diablo project? Possibly Diablo 4? (Speculation) so surely if the world of Activision blizzard and blizzard was about to crash and burn new projects would be on a shelf not being actively recruited for? You can check if its true on their own recruitment page.
You posted the headline without understanding the story or even knowing if it was big / small or even true because it suited your narrative. Thats frankly dishonest.
Come from work, pop up few solo games without having to bother to see if others are online or searching in lfg, play 5-10 games of arena per day and then log-off.
this is true unfortunately or atleast to some extent, Activison bought Blizzard that is a fact, but they let blizzard decide what to do, atleast until now, just looking at how many quits or gets fired from Blizzard there is no doubt in my mind that Activision is taking totaly over now, or might even literaly despand blizzard totaly, meeening Activision can then do what ever they want to do whit the games and brand, including just shutting everything down, atleast this is what it looks like now.
Bungie where smarter here, they only made a deal to make a few games for activison, meening they could pull the plug when they wanted to, what they actualy did do also, and whent on their own again, how it pans out is hard to se.
Blizzard in the other hand would have to buy them selfs out, somethign they most likely can not afford, or if they do, they might loose licenses to games like warcraft and diabo for example.
Who the heck will, from the nigh apocalyptic point youâre describing, even consider using, let alone purchasing any Warcraft/StarCraft/Diablo product without Blizzardâs logo in that case?
I mean aside from die-hard Activi$$ion fanboys/girls.
none would, atleast I would not, but that is a scenario that could happen, though Activision would be insane to do so, but it would not be the first time they manage to do so, they done it before, though smaler companies and not as known as Blizzard. We can only hope they never take full controll or we gona se so many microtransactions, it would be horrible.
