How do i avoid burning out completely on these quests? You know the ones, ‘‘Hey would you run back and forth across the entire zone for 2 hours for me?’’, they make me unironically want to go play something else.
I love grindy games, heck i almost maxed and account on OSRS so kill and collect quests are fun as heck, but these running quests where you just press auto-run and alt tab to watch youtube or stream a movie is making the game feel an awful lot like BFA
Well yeah, as i said, the quests where they ask me to collect gnoll ears or collect boxes or heads are fun. However the ‘‘talk to my friend 40 minutes away’’ is not fun, like at all
I’m not burned out of the game, i love the combat, and the professions, the dungeons, guilds, it’s all fantastic.
I just want to never do a single ‘‘talk to my friend’’ quest ever again, i don’t enjoy alt tabbing in while my character auto runs for 1 hour. It’s just pointless
Well your character can’t auto-run for an hour without having to do something.
But yeah, like I said before, either don’t do them or play something else
I just find it odd that a game that (supposedly) wants to be played would actively incorporate elements that make you want to not play.
Don’t get me wrong, every expac of WoW has had its share of elements and mechanics that make you sigh but these quests actively make me want to quit.
I spent 4 hours this morning doing a bunch of kill and collect quests, best time of my life, time flew by me and i didn’t even notice it, but 30 minutes into walk-n-talk simulator and i just want to uninstall.
Not faster, i enjoy the droprates of mobs not being instant, having to kill 100 mobs for a quest feels better than killing 8, but that is because combat is rewarding and compelling. I don’t want piss easy quests, i really enjoy the elite ones too, where you have to strategise around a boss and really maximise your kit to get them down.
But again, this isn’t what we’re talking about, we’re talking about the quests where you do 0, nothing, zip, nada, NULL interaction, and just walk to talk to someone
But that is the thing. You don’t alt tab. You walk around, talk to people, kill mobs on your way to go, maybe do some PvP. People who have a problem in Classic usually don’t do things right for their enjoyment. Questing by just rushing to your goal really is just a boring grind. But it is you who should find ways to make your journey entertaining. Grab a fishing pole or something.
When i do the run quests that has little to no interaction i look around intrigued by the world and the graphics i lost so many many years ago.
Sometimes i stop and fish a little in that odd looking pond that might have some new type o fish i haven’t caught yet.
Sometimes i might pass someone struggling with a mob and I’ll help said person kill this mob.
Sometimes I’ll just simply talk to guild members, or friends and hear how they’ve progressed and what not.
Spot a gnome running around being a gnome, kill him and feel even better about rolling a rogue in World of Roguecraft - Stuff like that.
