Bwl vs mc difficulty?

How much harder is BWL compared to MC? MC is mostly very very easy, only rag can give troubles really so im wondering if BWL is much harder or about the same?

You have to manage threat much better on some bosses, on Firemaw tanks must be spot on with turning the boss while the raid stand in specific LoS zones (from boss point of view). On Chromagus the same - boss position, decursing, removing poisons and diseases. Second boss, Vael, guild breaker is Geddon at a higher pace plus threat management. Nefarian - you need two good groups to handle ads, then good tanks and their healers to keep the boss at position and manage fear. The raid must manage his class calls, so mages can iceblock, for shamans people must switch to totems etc. Then raid has to have like strat holy water for the undead drakes and done.

BWL vs MC is just more Discord and threat meter usage. Most wipes will be likely on trash

Difficulty wise BWL of course is harder, but should not really pose that much problems to fairly decent guilds. It will be a gear check mostly and I expect most to be able to clear it pretty fast.

Razorgore: requires some strategy in terms of kiting but has really low HP
Vaelastrasz: easy, will die in 1 min or so if you don’t blow up your raid
Broodlord: easy, as long as your tanks do good threat and don’t die to Mortal Strike
Firemaw: only tank rotations require some care, otherwise it’s easy
Ebonroc: easy
Flamegor: easy
Chromaggus: not hard but actually requires ppl to begin use their brain. Last 20% is a real tank/healer test
Nefarian: kinda like chromaggus, ppl must learn their role and know what to do on their class calls

Knowing Blizzard rolled out Classic with 1.12 talents and what else, it will probably be a breeze for most experienced people.

PS did it the same way, the only difference is that they actually increased the content difficulty to match the 1.12 talents and all that, something Blizzard did not do, which is why MC/Onyxia has been so easy-- not that it was that ā€˜ā€˜hard’’ to begin with, but giving us 1.12 talents and Naxx level itemization made it even more laughable for anyone who has done this content before.

That’s one of the reasons why I’m so glad to be done with pservers, actually - nothing frustrated me more than seeing even good tanks being unreasonably clipped in 1-2 shots, only to look up old videos and notice bosses are hitting much, much higher than they’re supposed to. People think this is good for the game, but it only fuels the ā€œgearscore-liteā€ mentality of ā€œyou need X-level gear (or more!) to get into a group for Xā€ that is in fact rampant on pservers. Vanilla ones, and even more so TBC/WotLK ones.

BWL is a cake walk. The only bosses people will have trouble with is:

Razorgore - if the tanks can’t kite and tag multiple mobs but really it’s not hard.

Vael - Easy but similar to Gedon if you have a mouth breather in the raid it will be hard if people can’t move out of the raid with the debuff but really it’s easy.

Broodlord-Flamegor - Free loot.

Chromaggus - Probably the first challenging boss in the game but really he’s not too hard.

Nef - Getting the Ony Scale cloak for the entire raid is the real challenge other than that it’s not really hard.

AQ40 is the raid I predict most of the non-hardcore guilds will start struggling on.

This is Classic WoW. Everything’s easy in here.

At bwl it starts getting hard to pug. More prep, gear and coordination is needed.

There’s nothing particularly hard in Vanilla. But BWL will give a lot of troubles to less coordinated/prepared guilds. For example, Vael progression without 80 GrfPPs is way harder than Rag progression without 80 GrfPPs. Supression room punishes for mistakes - again, nothing a good guild can’t crack, but less good guilds gave it the name ā€œdepression roomā€ for a reason.

Most guilds will clear it the same day on release.

For most guilds, it will be easy. Harder to pug due to bwl got a few mechanics that if you dont handle them properly, can actually wipe you.
Most mechanics in MC can be ignored or will only kill the one who failed.

Bwl is a pretty big step up from mc, but that says more about how easy mc is currently.

BWL is harder than MC, but still easy. It’s particularly easy as alliance.

This is 1.12 nobody in vanilla would struggle with anything pre naxx. Learn the dance loot.

why is it easier for alliance?

Fear Wards and no shaman call.

You don’t need Onyxia scale for the whole raid, only for tanks. There’s a safe spot to avoid being hit.

Unless your guild was formed recently, and you struggle to get enough cloaks by the time BWL is out, I would say you’ll have a just as hard time making people get to the safe spot at the right time.

  1. Fear Ward is a lot more reliable than Tremor Totem vs Nefarian (though it’s not any more annoying than Onyxia, really)
  2. Paladin’s Class Call on Nefarian simply makes Nefarian immune to physical attacks for a short time - annoying, but nothing more.
Shaman’s Class Call, on the other hand, causes shamans to cast totems that are beneficial for Nefarian, such as Fire Nova and Windfury. Nothing unmanageable but certainly more annoying (mainly because it drains the shaman’s mana)
  3. A lot of bosses in BWL are threat sensitive because they have abilities that drop the tank’s current threat (Broodlord, drakes) or because high DPS spikes mean a higher-than-usual threat generation is needed (Vael, Chromaggus). Blessing of Salvation makes things easier.

paladin call is worse as it means ur raid does like 20% dps
