If I find a guy with the key can I duo the quest with him or is it too hard?

Alternatively you could ask a 2 man DM E farm group to tag along for a run for the quest item
Edit: also, putting mark on Hydrospawn when doing that makes it a little easier
Youre able to solo Hydro as a mage, takes a few tries
but theres a solo guide on YT, very helpful
