I can’t make a good looking transmog. I always try to make everything the exact same color but it doesn’t work and when I try with 2 or 3 colors it looks ugly. Any tips?
Tips? Just look what you like…
maybe try going for a theme or set instead of the same colour?
It’s not about making it have the same color.
You want to have a theme for your transmog.
Make a chef appearance. A hunter look. A caveman, etc.
Something that makes sense in general. For example, my transmog is basically a royalty blood elf appearance. I have jewels in my crown and chest piece. A skull in my belt that was used for the mount midnight which is kind of a royalty looking mount in the game.
Find your own theme. Build something accordingly and try to match the colors as well. That’s probably the best way to build a good mog.
This. Most people seem to think colour matching is al that matters… no taste.
Actually, they’re probably the same people that ride around on an ultra rare mount that has a crappy looking model.
Best tip I can give is: don’t start.
But if you do start, do what looks good to you, not to anyone else.
Start with the Class Sets, and maybe other Leather Sets. Pick one, collect it, and wear it for a while.
Maybe you will like it. Even if you don’t, the process of looking at sets and pieces will help you form your ideas.
Best way I found is not concentrate on a tier set but to mix and match from your collection. Which of course means trying to collect as much as you possibly can. if you are trying to match a look to your class it can be kinda tricky.
Best advice in the thread:
Only when you embrace the clown suit can you become as studly as I!
But seriously, I find picking a theme and then trying to find pieces that fit that theme works best. For example, my troll berserker:
And my wildhammer shaman:
Just use the scouting set, minus the cap.
Dammit, Dottie, why’d’ya have to go and post that???
Now I’m going to feel obliged to go collect it!
(See, Harago? Don’t end up like me. Just Say No.)
I was lucky, when transmog came in I was wearing a set on a low level rogue.
But then again I have Fashionista for all the slots, some probably double the amount needed.
I’ve no idea how people actually come up with how they wanna look and then go and get those items. Do you, like, browse wowhead models in search for what you like?
I’ve never searched for any specific looking items, I just select from my random collection of stuff and that’s all
Mine usually starts with a chest-piece or occasionally the pants, I look at ivy veins transmog to find it, then I look it up on wowhead for the matching set and where to get it. I did that with the purple judgement set.
Half the time at least one of the matching items is unobtainable.
As it happens, I already had nearly all pieces. Had to buy the hat, and do a quick quest for the gloves.
My Rogue was already wearing the trousers, and I think those boots, which I had as Wolf Tender’s Boots, go better than the ones she was wearing, so changed that set
I think I used an eyepatch.
I also use this on some rogues. Again minus the hat.
Invisible slots help more then u think.
Hide those gloves, belt.
Use bracers that match color scheme.
Farm old content raids, lfr-normal-heroic-mythic (as your able)
as each difficulty has different color scheme’s for more variation and options!
For me, i always find -one- item i really want to use. Then i work from there.
The leather shoulders that look like orb’s, are a go to for me when it comes to leather classes for the most part.
(still farming the red ones for my dh) <.<
As people said, it’s not about colors, it’s about an idea of a character. Plus, if you wanna play with colors, contrasts are important (1 color is dull) and working with complementary ones is always better (for instance, I use both blue and orange for the transmog I’m wearing, they look better together because they’re complementary) with a bit of brown, with the theme being a common alliance adventurer.
Sometimes a single colour works depends on what look you are going for.
I agree with those who suggest picking a theme and working from there tbh, Download the mogit add-on and have a play around too, it’s quite addictive though lol.
Personally I go by theme or color.
I pick an item I like then I try to build something up with that item. Similar colors and similar pieces that match together.
It’s difficult to avoid full sets but sometimes is better to use two items from different sets.
If you choose to go by theme, try to find various items and see if they work together, doesn’t matter if they have different colors in this case; you’re trying to stay on theme.
I normally start with a theme, or better yet if I see an item I really like the look of I plan a theme around that instead and start from there.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match either, or hide a few bits here and there to avoid it looking too cluttered.
You can always “build” a set by CTRL clicking things you haven’t unlocked yet in your wardrobe, then hunt down the ones you like once you settle on a look!
My mog here came from me wanting a dress to go with the tankard, and just grew from there!
