This is about people saying far worse things then that. And it being totally unacceptable and blizzard should have that policy to. Just remove them for a period and if it happens again remove them for good.
Either they get banned or you just donât play with that person again both have the same end result and there are plenty of in game tools that make it very easy to avoid these types of people.
If someone use exploits and cheats, he should be banned. But for a language⌠calling someone a R or N⌠squelch works just fine. That way you cant chat with random guys. You cant even chat in Bnet. The only way is to be invited by a friend and maybe use outside social media to communicate.
Gloating and laughing of someones cancer-disease, laughing and griefing about dead family members, wishing the rape and death upon ones familymembers, threatening people ++ has got nothing to do with âFreedom of speechâ
I donât understand why the mage felt the need to bring up his personal life in the first place.
Itâs asking for trouble when you know someone is acting like the way he was.
Although that DH is being a d*ck about it, you also have to remember, he hasnât done done it to him.
He did not. He replied to the DH saying âYou are cancerâ among many other even worse things.
Then DH says âto bad you didâ responding to other guy saying he recovered from it.
But i guess its just freedom of speech. I dont know if he actually had cancer or not, but its the right reaction to someone saying stuff like that, most morons will actually take a step back at that point.
Id to the same if id had cancer in my past. Ive handled some cancer-pasients in my life, and its not pretty.
If thatâs all he said, then weâd be having a different conversation.
But thatâs not all he said.
Just to clarify, are they still able to use the lfg tool? If not, then maybe a squelch could be effective.
My interest is in deterring people from acting like that in future, and Iâm not sure that allowing them to continue playing will do that as well as a short term ban. We can also argue over the time frame, I just chose a month as the length of time in the moment.
Itâs was ultimately up to that mage to share his problems.
Itâs a lesson learnt if you ask me, that some people will use it against you, to get to you.
WoW however is not a democracy, and we have the âFreedom of the Terms of Use And Other Things Most People Just Click Accept Onâ which pretty much lets Blizzard ban people based on what they say under the relevant conditions.
Victimblaming. Mage didnt take it to hard and thats not the point either. He just laughed of him and stated he needed some serious help, true that. But that serious help is outside of wow.
Point is it is and should be totally unacceptable. Now you might think this player was tough and hard and all people should do is âToughen upâ - I dont. Its got nothing to do with that.
People need to learn a lesson when they step way out of line, atleast thats my opinion and it have always been and always will.
Edit: Do you people really think freedom of speech is a thing here?
You legally canât complain how a company restricts your speech when youâre playing THEIR game or are on THEIR forums.
Itâs their complete right to ban you for not wanting to conduct the way they want you to while youâre using THEIR platform, this has nothing to do with censorship or freedom of speech
Go to a funeral, a hospital, a home for abused women etc. and harrass them for what they are going through. Blame it on âFreedom of speechâ
And hope the wrong people dont hear you
I guess its cool to be the tough guy behind the keyboard
You think wishing someones mothers and daughers raped and killed / harrassing and laughing about their cancer and worse for no reason goes under âValuesâ ?
