Can someone explain the apeal of Player housing and why we need it?

They died the same death as quivers and tomes transmogs and went to the realm of empty promises

Player housing caters to many different types of people: hoarders, collectors, people who want to express themself, people who want to have their own place, people with kinks, people who want to brag about themself…
If implemented properly, this could be the greatest feature the game has ever had, but recently don’t trust Blizzard to do anything right.

ESO shows that housing and character customization is a valid selling point so I’m sure that the demand is there and that it would be great (just don’t do the mistake and design housing around a cash store like ESO does).

PUT THERE ALL ALLINACE barbie players who just leech/afk and thats it do not let them go out!

well ESO is pretty much a cash grab in everything, even if you can play it totaly free, you do gimp your self if you do not buy stuff, or atleast was like that when I played it.

There is this feature called achievements

which is completely useless

just like the idea of having your own house in wow

And it should be above ā€˜expansions’. Roleplayers tend to get very attached to their characters. They are willing to spend hours to play a scene, and event, and for them the housing, their own corner would be something very important and it cannot be ā€˜temporary expansion feature’

This is the thing, it has to carry on and not be one expansion thing. With items from all expansions to customise it.

Yes, this exactly this.

Which is why I’ve been advocating and trying to suggest to blizzard that they don’t need to start big with player housing.

player housing should start as a small feature that gets bigger and bigger as expansions go, it should be a permanent feature that only gets things added to it.

exactly! I honestly think this is a bad idea. It would require tons of work hours from developers and people would ditch them after a short while. Look at this thread. 450 views, 50 replies and maybe 5 people who actually want this as a feature. I doubt there is a huge demand for this kind of shizzle.

I’m kind of a loner, in game, but I would also prefer a Guild House than a Player House. The player one would most likely not be used that often, I mean, the point of the game is to be out there in the world doing something, if you wanna be inside a house doing nothing, congrats you are already doing that irl. A place for the guild however would be a nice addition, a place where you can hang out with your mates, socialize, maybe have a room voice chat that only works for people inside it, and some other social and aesthetic features. Maybe even a place to duel/train PvP with your mates, and/or maybe even another room with some sort of bosses to practice, etc, etc. There are plenty of possibilities for a useful Guild House.

Personally I love the idea of player housing. We had it in Kingdoms of Amalur but it wasn’t customisable. It was, however, ours and somewhere we could chill out. I always kept my character there instead of an inn or just on the road.

I love some of the ideas I’ve seen - especially being able to craft items from professions - maybe we could pick things up just randomly through exploring the world as well.

One thing though - for me, for this to work, there must not be any sort of quest line attached to it. It would have to be entirely the players choice whether to take part in it or not so I wouldn’t want to see any quests associated with it - unless it was just one initial one-off quest to introduce players to the fact it was there.

I’m not much into the idea of guild housing - but I guess that would depend on how it would work. If it’s a place where you can hang out with guildies, like you can to some degree in a Neverwinter stronghold, then that’s fine. But actual guild housing I’d be concerned it might cause arguments between guildies over which carpets to have (for example!). But, like I said, it would depend on how it was worked out.

Completely customisable housing where we could put things we collect on our journey would be awesome - if done correctly it would definitely get my vote!

It’s very big RP element. Because, you know, customization - is one of the biggest RP elements. But in Wow it’s one of the weakest. You know, true RP is about living as your character, but in Wow it’s just about playing as one of Wow characters. Because things, that make game realistic - are the strongest RP elements. It’s also about having your own place and cosiness. In Wow you’re nothing more, than just a mercenary. NPCs pay you for dirty work. And you can’t even buy some comfort for this rewards. May be it’s ok for kids, but not adults. Adults need better motivation.

In many games a guild hub and player housing are one and the same. Just by choosing different allowances on the settings it can be something that the entire guild can access and add to.
There is basically no difference between player or guild housing/hub, therefore you can’t really say one would be a waste of time, then say another would be nice

but I can and I just did

I’m against it and doesn’t have a place in wow .
It’s wrong on so many lvl’s .
The game has a lot of parts and some ppl like m+ some like raiding some like collecting some like battle pets ? but housing . to stay in a house ?!
It’s a derail from the game’s purpose .

in WoD people were whining about entire community camping in their garrisons but now they want HOUSES to chill in haha. like it makes a difference if you idle in orgrimmar, timeless isle or your ingame house.
